N55 / DCT Poll: Please help!

From my other thread, and others in the past, it seems as though the N55/DCT combo leads to issues. Stalling, inconsistent idle, jerking, etc, mostly only with A/C on, but very rarely with A/C off. I'm confident it's a software issue and most cars have the problem. I just want to take a poll here to see how common the issue is and if there is anyone who opted not to get the software updates and recalls and if they are having any issues.

Thanks!

My other thread describing the issues in more detail:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611157

For those unaware: This is for 2011 or 2012 135i cars with the dual clutch transmission only

If you guys could please respond with your model year too that may help. I wonder if 2012s come from the factory with different software?

I've not had these problems and I'm a bit aghast at your "confidence" that "most cars have this problem" based on a sample of... two.

But I guess I can understand the angst and I do appreciate someone taking the time to gather data. I hope they figure out what's wrong with your car and if it's a larger problem then I hope they produce a fix for it.

More than two, follow the link to the other thread and do a search on these boards. Many people have had issues.

I have a 2011 DCT and don't have this issue. How do I find out what software I have?

I was having these issues. BMW Aust diagnosed it as the HPFP. Replaced it, and no more problems since. They also updated the software at the same time. So can't be 100% sure if the fix was the pump or the software

Yeah, surprised me to. But no stalling issues since.

Was also getting constant limp modes from Procede. But only had the tune put back in. Hopefully no more of these as well.

I was having stalling issues, significant lag/hesitation, rough idle, etc. Had latest software update done and things are much better I must say. No stalls, no rough idle since. The hesitation is still there but it is MUCH improved over what I was dealing with before. Now I feel confident pulling out of a driveway in front of a car that's several hundred feet away and not worry that I'm going to get t-boned.

I have not had any issues at all. There is a bit of turbo lag starting off but that is to be expected. I would think that most people don't have issues. If most people had these issues it would be in the news as it is unsafe. I know some people have issues but you have to remember the huge degree of selection bias you will see in a post on here.

I voted for the first option... only because there wasn't an option for...

No - on original factory software with no updates.

2009 Z4 has the identical problem described here...

Mark, was a successful fix to this problem ever achieved before you traded your vehicle? I am having the exact same problem with my 2009 Z4 (3.0), and wondering if anyone has yet found a successful fix. Just like these others, when the A/C is off, my problems go away.

Mine did the same thing the other day. I've taken it to the dealer a couple of times. Seems to get better at first but then it reverts back to its old ways. We all need to do something before it's too late and we're on our own. I have 8k miles of warranty left.

Recently put my car at the latest software level, was perfect for a couple weeks but now its pretty jerky/laggy. I can deal with it, not a big deal to me as I understand how it all works and it'll never be perfect.

I am having this issue as well when AC is on. Anyone know how much the dealer will charge to upgrade the software? I'm out of warranty...

My service adviser quoted me 200 dollars. I'm just going to do it, because I can't stand the hesitation anymore.
