Vanos recall - car smells like gasoline
Hey all,
I had my 2011 135i at the dealership for the past two days having the Vanos recall done. I just picked her up and noticed a very strong gasoline smell. I was in a rush to leave and service had already left so I didn't have much of an opportunity to do much about it. I just put the car in the garage and its still smelling pretty bad. I'm not sure if they accidently broke something or if this will "burn off" from the recall work. Anyway, I was curious if others have seen this before with the Vanos recall specifically (i.e. a known issue) and any guidance on whether I shouldn't drive the car and have a tow truck bring the car back to the dealership. I appreciate your thoughts and advice. |

I drove it back in as I wasn't entirely sure somthing was wrong (smell would come and go). SA advised it wasn't best idea to drive around that way.

Yes, thanks. It turned out the dealer did not properly get everything snug when they put it back together hence the gas smell. They took care of it.
They did provide me a 5 series for a loaner which was nice of them. I appreciate the help and guidance. |
