Cavpilot2k, I really appreciate you doing this test. I've been looking to add the Dinan S2 on top of my PPK for a while but was worried that it might be a waste. Sounds like that is not the case!

Definitely not a waste! You will experience a notable increase in power and will lose zero sound (and possibly gain some, YMMV).

Maybe something has been lost in translation in all the posts, but a Dinan Stage 2 tune on a 1 series N55 certainly does add power regardless of whether you have a PPK or not.

The net result being if you go stock to DInan, you'll get power and a little increase in sound. If you go PPK to Dinan, you will retain the cool sounds (overrun pops and burbles) from the PPK.

Side note on the throttle bog on 6MT cars. Its mostly associated with the DME code on clutch interruption. There have been some experiments on how to get around it, with success via disabling the clutch monitoring system, resulting in no bog, but nasty throttle sensitivity. MHD and Motiv have supposedly worked out a proper DME only solution which will be released in "two weeks". We'll see.
With DME bin files circulating more and more, it may be possible to include changed from MHD flashes to Dinan base bins. Not sure if they can be worked in tunerpro.

Thanks for the heads up, 600 american dollars. That's what I paid for PPK when it came out.

OK guys, I have read through this thread and still have a clarification question...
I have gathered that for guys with PPK that want to go to Dinan Stage 2, it is possible to retain the PPK tune and have both. My question... If I have Dinan Stage 2 tune already and want to add PPK is this possible? Don't know if it will reset the Dinan tune, or from what I've gathered, is even available to get anymore. Thanks for the help! |

my understanding is that the Dinan goes with the my VIN. If for some reason my DME gets reflashed, the tuner will put my Dinan back on too.
