Just got my '09 135 a couple months back, but I'm deathly afraid of learning this car's limits on the street... Doesn't help this is my first RWD either...
Anyone know any good vacant lots? I'm near Balboa park, but the zoo/museum parking lots seems to hot, maybe an industrial area? Any good areas near the shipping yards near the harbor? I'd love to just wait till some rain, but it's San Diego... |

The San Diego BMW club has it's next autocross at Qualcomm Stadium on Oct. 28th. There's no better way to find your limits and your cars limits then an autocross. Here's a video to show you what it's all about: You'll have instructors available to help you out and improve your driving skills. And best of all, you can spin out without hitting anything: Come join us in October! We had our last autocross just yesterday and it was a blast! Lots of 135i's as well this time around! If you think that's too much fun for you to handle, November 17th the club will hold a car control clinic also at Qualcomm. More details here: http://sdbmwcca.com If you do make it to the Autocross, come say hi! You'll recognize my car by the big "135" number on it's side. |

Damn, that looks like some serious fun. I was going to actually head out to one of these one time, but I totally forgot about it!
I live pretty close to Qualcomm, been out there a couple times to watch the drag racing. But that looks like some serious fun! Too bad I just missed it! I'll need a helmet too eh? And it's capped at 100 cars, and 20 of the first non-beemers? I might know an Audi S4 and VW GTI that might want to come along too. What's this car control clinic cover? I'd really love to get my car onto a wet skidpad. |

Trust me, it absolutely is!
And if you're serious about learning about your car (and yourself) - which it sounds like you are - this is the way to do it! Quote:
You'll probably get hooked like me and will buy a helmet later Quote:
