Would say that the 255 is about as wide as you'd want to go lowered, without the need to roll fenders, etc. 265/35 may be problematic on factory wheels with a dropped ride height.

Still don't understand why factory is 215/245 - oddball, slightly undersized for 7.5/8.5" wide wheels.

That said, anyone want to buy a pair of 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports? Rears were shot but fronts are good.
I trusted your guidance and didn't go to to 265 on the rears, 255/35r18 General GMax RS supplier gave me clearance pricing because they only had 2 in stock (sweet!).. works out to $600cad with installation and balancing, {shrugs} sounds good.

Edit: my fronts are already 225s and near 80% so I'll probably matchup a full set once I burn off the rears.. won't be long. Working on a price for the Wavetrac still but they (Wavetrac) did indicate it's gonna be AWHILE.

Keep us updated on the wavetrac!
I will be looking into an LSD for a winter '22 project (heads off to find a bolted ring-gear differential).

Anyone know why my '09 135i might be excluded from the recall?
I did a recall check against my VIN, nothing came up.

U right, N51 is included. N5x would include all 135i (N54/5) models tho... the recall is just for N51/2.

Called the NA recall center, they said call the dealer. Called the dealer, they said we'll take a look. Depending on the diagnosis they might have to take the car "down" (whatever that means), but there are loads of hoops to jump through to get a rental/loaner and they haven't received guidance on that yet. This should be fun. Hopefully telling them their options are to have me daily-ing a flammable lawsuit on wheels or giving me a loaner will help them speed up the process. Appointment is booked for Saturday, will report back.

That being said, I'm a bit nervous cause I've done the 3IM swap. Anyone have any experience with having previous PCV heater recalls repaired w/ the 3IM installed? Hoping they won't notice, and if they do I'll have a leg to stand on given that it's a genuine BMW part even thought its not stock.

I don't for this specifically but my experience over the last decade is totally "it depends". Depends on where you go, who is in charge, who is doing the work, if they got laid the night before, and so on.

I am guessing that, no matter what, they are directed to replace the part and they will. It's not related to anything else, and they will get paid for doing it so they are quite happy to.

It does suck you guys have to go in. There's always a chance of something else happening accidentally.

Hoping for the best. Best case would be I get my case back as-is sans the constant smoke and burning smell. Worst case would be if they replaced my 3IM with a single stage cause I'd have to source a new manifold and DISAs. Having the claim denied would be somewhere in the middle. Could probably just source the part and DIY.

Does suck that it has to be done, but if anything it'll be incredibly relieving if the issue does turn out to be PCV heater related (which I'm almost certain it is). I've been thinking that this issue was caused by me botching my VCG job (which I did the same weekend as the 3IM install), and I've been dreading the thought of having to redo the whole thing. Having the issue resolved at no cost to me would be fantastic, and a shot at a loaner being a bonus. I've yet to drive a G (or F) series, so I'm curious as to how they compare to our cars.

Had my #6 cylinder ignition coil fail and I forgot I already sold my spare to a friend
so I found it a good opportunity to buy the new fancy Eldor coils and see what the hubbub is about.

I changed the valve cover. It was what everyone said: 6 hours, not hard and kind of annoying. All of the leaning over the engine bay did a number on my back.
