Earlier in the week my car stuttered and threw up a cpl codes.. low fuel pressure. I tried switching my map and resetting codes, no luck have continued sensor fault. Figured order parts now and then disassemble and see if there's anything obvious.. sensor came in today, HPFP is on the way.. pulled apart my car yesterday and got the ignition kit installed, 4 days in a row of 90F, I decided to take the day off working on my car and rode my bike to my favorite watering hole. I have a rad carrier to install as a screw snapped that mounts the intercooler... Figure I'll get the GFB DV done installed when I do that.. my Bilstein B14 coilovers finally arrived today. I'm waiting for M3 control arms front/rear, rear trailing arms, Dinan camber plates + suspension refresh kit before I tackle the suspension project.
Here's a picture of the Precision Raceworks ignition kit; (also in hindsight had I known b58 plugs were a substantial improvement from n55 I may have just gone that route) |

You will fail emissions inspections for visible mods to the intake. Just swap a stock on back in. Tune should be ok if the OBDII system is working properly still.

Keep your car registered out of state for as long as possible and then worry about CARB when you finally need to smog. I had no mods other than a Dinan stage 2, but that was legal. But that smog shop went under my car with mirrors and into engine with a flashlight on the visual inspection

Anyone have first hand experience removing tint?
I'm particularly interested in how to remove it from the rear glass, without damaging the defroster/heater conductors. Tools (steamer?) Approach (bake the car in the sun for a while?) Things to avoid doing... lessons learned Thx! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBjlhu7dz5c |

Well, I WAS going to change my rear pads and discs today until I discovered that some previous shithead fucked up the guide pins. Have to abort this until I have time to cut the pins off and get new ones.

Wow, somebody fuc..., erm...., yeah..., well, really screwed up that caliper!
I'd probably be replacing that business... At least it looks like the PO butchered your caliper, but maybe it's just the pic...? |

Just to be sure, have you changed the rear pads before?
Basically you just take a small punch, you hit the pins (on their cetners) from the outside, they slide inwards (towards the car), and that's about it. The bottom one might still go, it just looks rusty. The top one looks mushroomed a bit and the caliper's beat up, but if you can hit it dead on it also may still come out. You can definitely get new ones from FCP and I'm sure other places as well. |

Just this one, but it was more for my soul than image clarity. The other side is thankfully not messed up.

Got it back from the dealer after oil change and inspections.
Strange scraping noise appears to be from my aftermarket muffler. Will need to see about creating some clearance. They confirmed the rattle in the dash, but did not diagnose. Want $2,000 for 7 hours to R&R the dash. I think I'll be tearing into that myself over the summer instead. Burning oil is valve cover gasket, dripping onto cat. Cover and gasket replaced 3 years/28,000mi ago. Sad it needs it again. They want $2100. Tires are worn. Fronts are at 7 and 6mm, but rears are at 4 and 3. Got PS 4s' October of '19, under 18k mi ago. Prior MPSS lasted me 23k mi for the set. I have not been driving hard much. Anybody else have a similar experience on Michelin tire tread life?

I have been trying to give my baby a good clean inside & out, but it won't stop freaking raining. Damn you global warming.
The front footwells still feature the sand & debris from my Easter trip to Woolgoolga. I have had plasterboard and paint work done in the garage so my 1er has been out in the elements. Last edited by bobowar135; 05-15-2022 at 03:41 AM.. |

No, sorry Wasn't suggesting that. Just wondering if you've done the brake job before and if you were familiar w/t he parts and how they disassemble and what they look like afterwards.
And to try and say that, if you haven't, that you may actually be fine. It's ugly for sure, and needs new pins, but they may still pop out as expected and not need a dremel and etc. |
