Fitting a P-Tronic to a 123d, should I run in first???
I am collecting my new 123d Msport Coupe next Monday (cant wait) and I will be purchasing a P-Tronic box for it shortly.
Does anybody have any advice on whether I should run in 1st then fit or fit and then run in? Would it make any difference? Happy motoring.......:iono: |

What's P Tronic and who is it made by.
If this is a piggy back remap / ECU - I would go for a reputable company such as DMS?

Yeah, its a piggy back ECU. A few 123d owners on this forum have fitted them.

I don't know P-Tronic and never heard of them so find it hard to comment.
You need to be 100% that you know what you are dealing with when doing these things e.g. - warranty of failure of parts affected by the piggy back - do they offer one? - are these bespoke to the engine, what BMW diesel experience do they have? - as the question on PH, Tyresmoke and other big forums - call DMS and see what they offer - also see what Superchips offer If I was to ever get me car remapped or chipped, I would always goto the largest and most reputable company e.g. AC Schnitzer, DMS, Superchips and maybe even SSTT if it were easy for support.

This sounds very interesting. I've emailed them for some more info. I notice they only do diesel engines which is probably why not that many people on this forum know about. All you 135i drivers

Nothing to do with driving a petrol, my other car is a 335d.
They are not commonly known. Be safe and use DMS or Superchips - no harm if they cost the same and do the same?

DMS don't list any mods for the 123D yet. And neither do Superchips

That means they are putting a lot of time into it (I would hope).
Seriously, give the guys at DMS a call - they are real BMW experts, and will no doubt be trialling it now.

Sure, will give them a call. Of course I first need the damn car to arrive... sigh. So painful. I'm passing the time planning places to take it. Wales is on my list, along with Switzerland.

Watch your warranty - none of the mapping companys that are mentioned here carry a real "Lloyds backed" warranty to cover your powertrain if the dealer voids your warranty due to the car having a problem that is down to it being remapped.
