MadDad Street Series Exhaust
2/26 Update: Installed...video below. Note this is just the axleback with the factory midpipe on the car and factory downpipes. Basically bone stock exhaust for the Street Series exhaust.
================================ So there are a number of "muffler-less" exhausts already on the market. The benefit of these systems is that you get an aggressive sound without the need of doing a full catback(BMW Performance) or full downpipe back(pick your brand). A full downpipe back setup is the best choice for power but bigger considerations need to be made on what the "axleback" section is used because downpipe back setups can be extra loud. We already have our Whisper series axleback that fits that above scenario, but what about guys that just want the immediate agressive and have no plans of for midpipes or downpipes. That's what our new Street Series is about. This system is similiar to other "muffler-less" setups but is fully origonal in its design. The issue with these exhausts is that without any muffler tuning to mitigate drone can be a problem. To date you your choices are either no features to mitigate drone or sound "chambers", which are sections of pipe where the exhaust flow can reflect in an attempt to cancel out drone. Being that our cars our turbocharged we needed to go a different route. We did not want to put any dead flow paths into the exhaust stream. Naturally aspirated motors can benefit from back pressure that a sound chamber can produce, we just don't feel that is the best route for a turbocharged vehicle. So what do we do different. We take the exhaust and put it through a natural taper in a smooth exhaust path and we finish it by putting it through a set of resonated tips that have baffled cores like a resonator. The tips are dual 3.5" slash cut. The double walled resonated setup gives them a rich look. The entire exhaust is T304SS so there are no lower quality setups for less money. Pre-Order pricing will be announced shortly and you'll be able to pre-order via the website before the week is out. Sound clips/videos will be coming in about a week once I get this unit installed on my car for testing. If all goes well we'll be shipping by early March. As usual these are hand built 100% in the U.S. It should be noted that this first test mule has a couple of extra welds/sections that will be eliminated in production. We tuned the sound by changing the pipe diameter and using resonated tips. Resonated tips are just that...they are like mini resonators. Hear you can see their core.

do you think you were able to eliminate drone? Or just minimize it? Will we be able to get these with black tips? Any benefit to adding the mount for the OEM vibration damper like your whisper exhausts?

Sorry for the late reply here. A few answers:
Black tips - probably won't happen. Reason is, we can't coat the inside of the tips because it will compromise the inner baffle and I don't know if there is a reliable way for a ceramic coater to just coat the outside and initial inner lip. Sound/Drone - I'll reserve my opinion until I have it tested..good news is I have an appointment today at 3PM to have it installed. But like all of our products it will not be released unless the sound meets our requirement. We build our parts to a standard not a price point so if we need to go back to the drawing board if the sound isn't right that is exactly what we will do. But I feel pretty confident in the way this one is engineered so I'm excited to be testing it later today. Mount for factory vibration damper - We do put that on our Whisper series, but do not plan on it for the Street series because it should not be needed. When you have a real "muffler" canister, it's the canister shell that can vibrate and buzz. In the case of the Street Series there is no canister. A sound clip with catless mids and downpipe - can't help you there. I have factory downpipes on my car and my test today will be with the factory midpipe and just the axleback, because feel that will be the most popular way people will run this exhaust. Hopefully I'll be posting again early tonight with some clips. R.

Video - MadDad Streeet Exhaust
I'll get some better clips later in the week. The weather was pretty lousy today plus I had a loose midpipe and axleback in the back of my car. I have not hit the highway with this exhaust yet. I only got a chance to due the short trip from the shop straight to my house. Never got out of 3rd gear. But let me say this. Above 4000 rpm and you will have people on the side of the road wondering what is driving by. The few revs I did from neutral with no load on the car at the end of the clip should give you a good indication of what this thing sounds like. Under full throttle this is going to turn some heads...and this is with the factory midpipe which I put back on my car just for this test. Also, if you are in the MA. area and need someone to install your parts..two thumbs up for ESP in Sterling. For what they charge it's just not even worth bothering doing the install yourself. I had a midpipe removed, the origonal installed. An axleback removed and this one installed and they were done in about 35 minutes flat for less than any other shop would dare to charge. Buzz them for your quote. Here is the vid...more to come with better weather...

Please show me where and how do you mount the camera? I want to record a sound clip with my setup (Maddad mid-pipes + aFe axle back) and share. Thanks.

Hey folks,
We were closed this past week. I just got back in town. So I have logged some miles. We're going to do a Round 2, and stick a small resonator in there. It's got some harness under load on the highway that we need to address...and we will address because outside of that, this think turns heads and its not just the volume it's the character. I'm not kidding, a guy in his mid 40's pulled up next to me today, had me roll down the window and wanted to know what motor I had in car. He had been behind me for a about a mile and said the car sounded amazing. We never really hear our exhausts from an outsiders perspective(unless we let someone drive our cars) so this was nice moment to have while testing the exhaust. Not only that, but it came from a guy in his 40's. I'm not sure when I'll have the next unit in hand. I'm trying to expediate it, but that means more like a week or two rather than a month. So we're still a good month or so away from being ready for production. Progress is being made though. Weather permitting I'll pull a decent clip this weekend. Rich
