ACT residents/owners
Do any of you ACT guys have a recommended mechanic/authorised inspection centre for the purposes of vehicle registration transfer?
I've found the list of ACT approved inspection centres: http://www.rego.act.gov.au/assets/PD...20Stations.pdf If any of the locals (or even interstater's) know anyone on that list who you can recommend, that would be great. Cheers |

Yeah but prefer to do everything a bit more legit. Plus, the benefits of getting fully customised plates there for a one-off fee and in the combo i want

Perhaps - there'll be a convoy in the next few weeks by the boys to Canberra when I move into my apartment. Thankfully work is covering my for 2 weeks in a serviced apartment while I find somewhere.

Hey Tay, I'm about to do the same thing. I dragged my ass on it because I had a full year of nsw rego on the car when I bought it and knew NSW would take a whole pile of processing fees and reimburse me just enough to buy a cheese burger. The ACT can't penalise you for being late to transfer...
There's stacks of military types that don't bother messing around with moving rego - I was on on ACT rego for my whole military career and lived in NSW, VIC and ACT..... ....point being, you don't need to be in too much of a rush - you can sus out one of the inspectors once you're here. I've never used any of these mechanics, but it is literally a tick and flick. If your car does fail the test, you'll have to go over the pits in Dickson after you've remediated the problem. BTW - if your car is out of warranty, Advance Tech in Phillip are reasonable BMW mechanics - I've been happy with them so far. They let me into the workshop and show me what they are doing, plug in the autologic to check out codes for free etc.....quite helpful... Keep us informed about the group coming over - would be good to catch up! |

Tay, yep what Tian said above. Just make a booking with one of the certified insp stations. It really is a tick and flick, unless the car is too low for example.
My P car is like Tian's, QLD regoed, and will stay that way till it runs out in June. |

Thank you gents, big help!
The only thing that could be a worry is the fact my airbox lid is off and that i've lost it (lol). There's also the tints too. I don't think anyone would check the PE with ADR's (from what you've said that would be way beyond the point of safety checking). I guess i'll take my time, but keen to get those custom plates. Maybe in a couple of weeks we should catch up for a coffee or beer if you gents have time? |

There's a mode to take a photo every 60 seconds. So we should end up having about ~180 snaps, which can then be made into a video.
ps: 18" or 19" e46 m3 oems? I can only find pics of the 19s... http://m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=234945 most likely will end up going the 18s because theyre cheaper to buy and powdercoat. im finally going to go with the colour i wanted to do the bbs' =D |

Depending on timing / location etc, you could borrow my airbox lid for the inspection. PM Me if you'd like (I'm travelling a bit for work, so no guarantee on timing)....
Not sure if half of the certified inspectors even bother with the light-sensor thingo for tints.... edit: ooh..just saw....wrong type of airbox.... |
