Any DOT 4 or DOT 4+ rated brake fluid will be fine.
Do not use DOT5 fluid!!

I know its acceptable to use, I just wasn't sure if people had experienced it and either liked or disliked it. Honestly not fully sure what to expect from a different fluid

Well... ATE also makes a BLUE brake fluid... which helps out when flushing your brakes... you can see the color change and know you have the new fluid at each brake caliper. Personally I just watch for fresh clear brake fluid. It's not hard to see.
IF you flush your brakes yourself... use a pressure bleeder and be aware that you might need to use a scan tool to purge your ABS block thru INPA.

I'm on this, https://www.boschautoparts.com/docum...0-91edb62866a3
And to be fair I used it because it was the only 5.1 I could find on-hand stocked part anywhere (Autozone was the only store stocking 5.1 fluid). They no longer stock this and I bought my last 2 cans for $3 each. Zero problems or complaints on my end. Handles 150mph+ quick stops just fine. |

I use ATE TYP 200. Been through many track days with the stuff without issue. Would recommend.

Anybody use the special low viscosity fluid our cars actually call for? Like the ATE SL.6.

Fluid viscosity
I went with Motul RBF600. Big mistake. Great fluid for summer, but when we hit a cold snap last December, the brakes were hard to modulate, and the clutch was extremely sluggish, even with the CDV delete. Next time, it will be low visco fluid for me!

Fortunately the car will no longer be seeing winter, so hopefully is fine in storage with the ATE 200

[QUOTE=chris_flies;23362600
My father ran Typ 200 (or SL.6?) along with Super Blue Racing (man, that stuff is brilliant, but illegal) in his E39 540i with no issues. Once this round of Motul 600 is out of my system I'm putting Typ 200 in it (much less pricey than Motul)...[/QUOTE] Great to know thank you! Unfortunately because of customs and duties and such my $600 order quickly turned into $800
