E46 M3 is the car I really wanted when I bought the 135i. If BMW released an E82 or E92 with Naturally aspirated 3.2 Litre S54 power, I'd consider trading in pretty soon. In the case of the F20 I'm not comfortable with the front end styling, no matter what engine they put in it.

E46 cars looked dated and run down, especially the M3. Never look back!

M135i or BMW Performance F20?

They both look equally awful. Why bother.

They both look horrible!

Shame - because they are better cars underneath...

Went and had a squiz at both the new 1 and 3 series yesterday. the 1 is fugly, the 3 with xenons in sport looks good.

Oh yeh, the Mrs test drove the new M5 (solo) too, "fark" she said, "it goes, for a boat!" I just wasn't interested.

I really like the M Sport better. I have seen both in person. Here is a F20 M Sport I saw at my dealer the other day...

That actually looks pretty good - nice and clean!

Change the chrome grill to the performance grill and we are all set!

I think the M Sport looks good.

Once we start seeing M Sport coupes we'll have an apples to apples comparison.

I'm sure it will grow on everyone

wow that actually looks a LOT better than all the shitty photos

needs a good 2 inch drop though. i mean.. that's the sport pack? my E87 130i only looks good because it's not scraping powerlines...

ED: that is to say, the rear is very nice, but the headlights are... yeah.. no...
would still happily drive.

Dack, for me it is just the front end, the headlight size and angle and the gap to the grills. They should have done a mini-me 3 series front treatment. I HOPE the coupe has a major face change.

judging by E87/E82 they're going to be identical except for slight changes to the bottom of the bumper >_<

Yes, I agree with you. The first time I saw pics of the (front end of)new F20 I thought to myself... OMG what did they do!

Now that it has been out for awhile (over here in DE) I do see the family resemblence towards the F30 front end. I personally do not like the F30 front end either. Although some find it pleasing. I think they are both more than a little ugly.

Here is a F30 I saw at my dealer that same day I took those F20 pics...

I'm just glad I bought the 135 and 1M before BMW "updated" the look because the F20 just looks....fugly I think someone said. It doesn't look sexy or masculine...just downright lame, like it's trying too hard to be something it's not.

Long live the E82

Let's just hope the 2 and 4 series are much much much more inspiring than the F20 and F30.

I happen to think the E82 is gorgeous and I have from the moment I first saw one.... I seem to be the minority here but to me it was the first BMW in years that didn't looked bloated...
