i felt like it has been worth it. The RDC/TPMS was my fault, left a leaky water container and it trickled and fried module. Glad i didnt have PDC or iDrive, cuz those wouldve been screwed too. OFHG not a big deal, super quick to do and cheap parts. The oil pan gasket sucks and is what I am stuck with now, prompting this "reflection" in last year of ownership. Not terrible for a BMW at all, friends with 335i's and 550i's have been in and out of shops like grocery stores lol.

Yeah, I paid $19,999 for my 2012 135i M-Sport (manual) with 38k miles from Carmax in April 2018.

I did pay an extra $2K on top of that for the MaxCare warranty that will last me 5 years...and it already paid for itself in the first couple of months, when I needed the headlights/control module replaced and my charge pipe blew. lol
expensive for my budget but you obviously have a far more powerful car and a nice warranty too. I wouldve opted for warranty on an n54/55 car too

beautiful car! Yes that damn gasket. My climate varies from 115 in summer to below freezing winter, not best on rubber and plastic parts!

I got my 2009 128 for $9000. It had 48000 miles one owner with full history and sports suspension. I think I got a steal deal! She’s a lovely little commuter.

Absolutely got a steal! My car was a damn ripoff compared to yours.

I bought my 2011 128i Convertible, loaded, for $11K OTD, 81K miles.

It has been basically flawless for the last year. It just needed tires and a battery.

I think I got a fair deal.

Fair for sure! I paid 14.5k for my 2010 with m sport, manual trans and my fav color combo, black on black. Love the red interior on yours, and those depos really make the car look new!

Not entirely true. I've seen some decent deals through Carmax. I picked up my Bullitt Mustang 4 years ago from them for $23.5k with only 4,600 miles on it and I could sell it today for around $21k.

Carmax is great if you are looking for a rare car and need to buy out of state. They make the shipping process simple and you aren't on the hook for anything but the shipping cost if you don't like it. You also aren't out any money if it gets damaged during transport. Unless you can fly up and inspect the car, that's much safer than buying through eBay or BaT.

I bought mine in Nov 2018 after thorough PPI. One of the very last built - 2013 128i Msport 6MT (space grey/black leather sport interior - heated seats/sunroof/comfort access) - was in a slight front-ender, and repaired to as-new condition. Had just under 20k miles on her when received. $15.5k
- basically my dream car, love it

Exactly. An M sport manual is surprisingly rare nowadays, especially for the 128i. It was also way more expensive to equip a 128i with an M sport than a 135i, so not many were ordered. My local Carmax store had it surprisingly, which made picking it up super simple.

in my opinion, one of the last BMWs made with character. Love the new BMWs and they make amazing power with the turbos, but even my brother's F30 which is only two model years newer is so lackluster in steering. Love my car!!

At least you didn't snake the one I wanted out from under me. Carmax had a 1-owner 2013 128i slicktop with the M-sport package with 32k miles for under $16k. I tried like hell to get it, but it was already gone.

I thought I lost out on my Bullitt. I saw the listing and called before they had even posted pictures. I was told someone was test driving it and pretty much gave up at that point, but the salesman called back a couple hours later to say that it was available again. I happily paid the shipping costs sight-unseen knowing that I could always back out if I didn't like it. With only 4,600 miles on it though, I knew it would be in amazing condition.

March 2018 bought my second 1r from private seller for $8500 it was disclosed it needs brakes and next maintenance needs at 50k. Spent $3600. on brakes, shocks and struts, new control arms, tires and wheels, all the fluids changed, belts and tensioner and plugs and coils. Did you or I get a good deal?

I’ll drive the shit out of this car and enjoy it tremendously over a new $24k Civic and all its peace of mind. I don’t care for this reason how much it costs or shitty wholesale prices on 1r’s, every time I drive it I hit the fob and say “what a great fucking car”. And that’s priceless

Seems like you got a good deal, OP. Not great, but good.

I got my 2009 128i, 6-Speed Manual, no options but heated seats, with 159k miles on it for $7200 out the door in March of 2017. I've done a few little maintenance things, most of which has been preventative, and one or two big things (valve cover, starter).

As captain slowly pretty much said, it doesn't really matter if you truly got a good deal, it matters that you feel like it was worth it in the end. To me, it's been more than worth it.

I think you got a decent deal.

But why ask now after a year of purchasing it? Will it make a difference? I could understand your query if it was just a few days after...

Meh, I still look even though it doesn't matter at this point. I guess it's reassuring to know that you didn't get hosed or good to know that you got a deal.

Amen! No modern car handles nearly as well as these 1ers, especially when they have proper suspension setup. Great deal on the car, especially if you were open to doing the work it needed

Just wanted to see what others paid. Figured I would ask the question after a year of ownership to see how the whole experience has been and what others have felt about their cars.
