M3 18 rims on my e90 problems.

Hi Guys,

I just installed a set of M3 18 inches on my e90. The back looks good (very nice look, bit wider stance). But the front seems like its pushed into the car more. For people that is using M3 rims, can you please tell me if I need a spacer in the front? if I dont use a spacer will I have any handling or rubbing issues? Thanks

my current wheel setup is:
Rear 9.0: 255/35/18
Front 8.0: 225/45/18 (will be changing to 225/40/18 soon).
* I actually like the 225/45/18 look, it fills the wheel well up more (but I am guessing it will rub on bumps because of the increase in diameter).

Yeah, you'll need spacers... Do a search because there was another member with the same issues.

yea RichP has the M3 wheels on his car with the spacers. I got the car in person and it looks really good with the spacers, I say go for it !!

Can you run different diameter size tires between the front and rear tires? I would figure it would throw on the traction control\warning light with the different wheel speeds. I am running 225/45R18 on the front and 255/40R18 on the rear of my M3s. BTW, I do not have rubbing issues with my non-sport suspension.

I think you are right. Traction control do come on often. I don't few confident driving my car today. Going to get 225/40/18 asap. The ride feels alot softer without the runflats.

Are you using spacers in the front?

I am not using spacers on the front since they cost too much and are not always safe. I rather use the money for exhaust tips. I do enjoy the bigger size tires since they soak up some of the bumps, protect the wheels a little more from the pot holes, and fill up the wheel well gap more. The only draw back is my OEM runflat spare tire is not the same diameter and will cause warning lights to appear when I use it as a spare. Let me give you some fore warning that the wheels is pain to clean.

Im running oem M3 rims on my 330I without sport suspension. The front wheel do look slightly tucked in (5mm perhaps) if you look closely but there is no rubbing/handling issues. The tires are stock continental OEM M3 tires. Compared to the stock 17" turanza that came with the car, it's night and day...
