Started cleaning (pain in the ass), sanding and painting my wheels. I am working one first, just to make sure I like it. I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned and sanded the inside of the wheel, then painted it. The outside is sanded and ready for paint now.

I'll post the front when I paint it, and a rear to show the before and after cleaning and sanding. The paint is graphite VHT. Much darker than the silver, for the same reason I painted the backs black. That damn brake dust.

Ever since my battery fiasco nearly four years ago, I've had my CTEK attached to the car on a daily basis... So far, so good.

Sooooooo much better now!
1and1, can you offer up some pointers on the steps you took to make this swap please? I've got the smokers package on my car as well. While I like and use the extra power port, I miss the having just the stock storage tray and that flip up smoker "ash tray" isn't very useful. I can relocate the power port under the dash.

Happy to- Actually one of the least expensive things I've done to date- When purchased just earlier this January, the cost through ECS was $20.41 (Storage Tray BMW part# 51167136190)

Center console removal was straight forward, there's a great-ish video on youtube that details the removal- just google "135i center console removal" and it, they really- there is a pair of them, should be the first result. Mine is an auto where that one is stick, but essentially all same same- shift knob pulls off, surrounds just clipped in.

The end of video part 1 covers removing the trim and ashtray. When reassembling just use the storage bin instead

Only thing I'd consider a special note is when reinstalling pay attention to the very front and getting the console back in the dash side trims properly- took me a minute to get it properly lined up, and the console won't go that last inch forward until you do...

Easy Peasy. Spent longer (much much longer...) cleaning than I did removing or reinstalling.

I just got my NNR Coilovers delivered and tried to install them. Unfortunately, they don't fit a a 2011 BMW 128i although they said they would. Anybody have any experience with these coilovers? For $360 I didn't expect amazing quality but I did expect them to fit as they said they would.

Well, the spring is a full coil at the bottom so it can screw into the mould in the control arm, and at the top it is machined flat so the adjustment perch can sit nicely on top of it. You are supposed to use the rubber boot that comes off the top of the OEM spring and put it on the top of the new spring. The new spring fits in the rubber boot, but not if I put the adjustment perch where it should be. There is a metal piece in the wheel well that the rubber boot clicks right into place with, but if I were to use the adjustment perch with it, it will no longer fit in the metal piece.

I know that is a long and pretty bad way of explaining it, but basically it would work if it were to use it as just a spring, but there is nowhere for the adjustment perch to properly sit.

I'm just trying to visualize the "metal piece in the wheel well" and can't.

The way I see them being assembled is the top mount and bearing sit on top of the perch, held in place with the nut that goes on the damper rod. The rubber boot goes between the perch and the top of the spring. Right so far ?
I just don't see what the metal piece in the wheel well is.

Hey, if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. I'm not denying that. Just that when I put my BMW PS in I had issues with the fronts and my problem was caused by a control arm bushing that was binding to the point I couldn't rotate the strut out under the fender to get it out, even though I thought I had loosened it enough. I hadn't.
I'm just saying that sometimes it takes a second pair of eyes.

The metal piece I am referring to is the piece that the spring is going into in that picture. With just the rubber boot on the spring it fits in perfectly. But if i add that adjustment perch on top of the spring, it wouldn't even come close to fitting or staying in the piece

I pm'd you as well but I think I see what you're saying. With the adjuster on top of the coil you can't get the boot on and locate it up inside the recess in the wheel well ?

Last I checked the 18" 313M wheels were still available but at about twice the price of the 18" Performance 313s.
That’s a great deal and even cheaper than autorimshop.com, which I believe sells refurbs.

I got asked at work how my bmw was doing in the winter.
I replied with, "Great! It is sooo clean!"
Coworker asks how with this weather we are having?!
I respond, "cuz it's in my parent's garage for the winter!"

Man, I miss my 1er. Spring can't come fast enough!

Thank you very much for the part number! Just ordered a replacement aerial and this tray. Right at $50 bucks for both, so no shipping charges! The next real money I get to spend on the car is getting a few dings removed via paintless dent removal. I still have a few items to address to get this beast looking good cosmetically...

Turbo weather!
About 50F, so not super cooled. But we must be in a high-pressure system or something. Little bugger was just ripping this morning. Fun commute. (Except for the 2 speed traps and section of construction.)

Yeah, it was 7F here this morning, good for the BATS, not good for the grip.....

I haven't looked into wheels in a while, but this seems like a good deal. I can't imagine buying two matching from VMR (who is 20 minutes from me) would be terribly expensive.

These offsets and widths should be fine for our cars, right?

Living in Florida has its benefits. I got a new windshield installed today. Florida insurance includes window coverage by law w/ zero deductible. My window was pitted really badly which made for poor visibility in low light/low sun conditions.

Were you able to get an OEM BMW windshield?

1'ers look awesome with trailers, roof racks, and other practical add-ons.
