Me too and a lot of NJ M's are naked. My wife wants me to keep the 330i on but I want to be naked.

I asked my dealer if I could arrange to pick up my ED car with the badge removed. He said I had to talk to the ED center. Then another person at the dealer said they could do this at the VPC when it is redelivered or at the dealer themselves once they get it. Has anyone had BMW remove the badge in these circumstances and if so did they do a good job? Also, was anyone charged for this?

My dealer, Wide World of Cars removed the badging and the end result was perfect. Not a mark on the paint. They provided this service as a courtesy.

It really is very simple - just take some dental floss with you.....
Pull the floss under the numbers, using sawing action just like on your teeth . Number will come off leaving adhesive stuff behind. This will come off easily by rubbing with your finger. Simple as that!!

I never put down 325 owners. Point out where I did that?

To me, there isn't much difference between the 325 and 330. When you put the sport package on them, you get two cars about the same. They're both SLOW, but they handle well.

The car looks no cleaner with the 325 badge on or off. If someone was so distraught about the 325 badge, they'd be removing the BMW badge as well. But they don't do that. Why? Because they want people to know they're driving a BMW. Why do you think that is? Yes, you're right..we all know it. But they don't want people to know what kind. Why? Yes, we all know that too, no matter what kind of lame excuses they come up with.... "it's cleaner looking".... (even though there's this out of place dorsal fin on the roof. )

We had the same crowd in the Corvette group as well as the Camaro group. The Corvette guys would put the Z06 wheels and scoops on there 'vette "because it looks better"... uhhhh.... no, because they want people to think they have a Z06. As well as the guys who took the "Camaro" badges off there 6-cylinder cars and put the Z28 badges on them.

And so it is with the BMW crowd also.... which is strange, because there is a heck of a lot of difference between the Z06 and regular Corvette, as well as the Z28 and the regular Camaro. So you can kind of see the reasoning there. But there isn't alot of difference between a 325 and a 330. You can option them up the same, and the only difference pretty much becomes the power...which is very minimal.

I don't care one way or the other about people taking badges off thier 325i, 330i or whatever. I just don't like people trying to con me. Most of the people debadging there cars are 325 owners. So since we're mostly intelligent business people here, we know why.... don't try to con us.

If you want to debadge your 325 so people don't know what it is, then that's fine with me. To each his own. But don't try to tell me it's because "it looks cleaner". That's a bunch of hogwash.

PS: I love every here.
As a owner of a 330 I think you are wrong! The e90 and most cars look better or cleaner with the numbers. Did you ever see a WRX without badges? Looks a lot better. I also had a Z06 and hated the badge on the side. Hey look I have 405hp. How lame and it jumped off the side of the car like a sore thumb. Also the Z06 has a different roof then a standard coupe. Plus the z's rims kicked ass. People that put on the scoops wanted to look like a z I will give you that.

A debaged car IMO always looks cleaner. Maybe more people take them off 325's but I see a lot naked 330i's, 325i's, M3's, 5's, Audi's, and VW's in NJ.

My 330 would be naked, but my wife is giving me a hard time about it and it is not worth hearing her mouth. You forget only car people know the difference between car numbers anyway. I bet many on this forums dont even know what the numbers stand for. And since the 325 has a 330's displacement who cares. The post is way out of hand.

Some people want to debadge because to them, it really does make the car look "cleaner". I drive a 545i, and I don't debadge because I fall under your catagory, I admit it I want people to know it's a 545, however, on E60.net, you'll find LOTS of 545i owners that debaged their car. Explain that one.

Now when the 550i comes out, I may consider debading.
Very true and funny!

Dave - the problem with your reply is that you are actually referring to people who "substitute" badges/grilles etc.....rather than those who prefer the looks of their cars without any badge.

I have no significant views either way, but I'm pleased I took the numbers of my E90 - it looks a lot better, and if i'd chosen a (cheaper) 330 or 325 then I'd have done the same.

Not everyone is as brand concious as you may think. I also find your generalizations offensive. Maybe you and your peers are brand concious and may remove or add a badge because of what it means to you, but to state as certainty why or why not others do it is out of line. There are other car people out there with their own opinions and aesthetic. People do have opinions other than yours and because they are different doesn't mean they are lying to themselves or anyone else.

To answer your question about the BMW emblem, it can not be removed as easily. Removal would leave holes. Even if you did remove the BMW emblem, there would be an edge where it was. The BMW logo is designed into the car and can not be "cleaned up". I'm sure if it was easier, people would certainly remove it. Some people would like a stealth car with no markings at all, count me in.

Well I haven't debadged mine but I must admit whenever I design or draw things they are usually even on both sides. I could see how having the badge on one side only would look a little lopsided to my eye. The shark fin and the BMW badges are all in the middle of the car so it doesn't unballance the car. I'll have to see one in person and decide. The ass of the E90 does look real smooth in the pics I have seen online w/o the badge though. I wonder how it would look debadged but also with the rear spoiler? Anyone have a pick of that?

I got alot of compliments on my debadged car! Everyone said it evened out the rear end, and it looked very smooth. Im not going to get into it again with "Dave 330", cause everything he says is a bunch of "hogwash".

Everyone knows that people like Dave who won't de-badge are concerned they will not get recognized for the money they've spent on their car. He's worked hard to get the best that he can and he's damn well going to make sure everyone else knows it. Can you imagine the embarassment for Dave if someone mistakenly took it for a 325?

One way that I prevent this is to leave the window sticker in place. That way everyone is sure to see how much the car cost. And I don't bother with asking for a discount, I pay sticker. That way there's no doubt on how much I actually paid. No end of the month deals here.

For those who do otherwise, don't bother, because you're not going to con me or anyone else. We know what the real deal is.

JBOO--Leaving the window sticker on was funny!
I'm debadging my 330. I thought it was because I wanted a cleaner look (I would love to get rid of the fin, too) but after reading Dave C's comments I'm re-evaluating my motives. After all, he says it couldn't just be about the looks. Do you think it's because I want people to think it's a 325? Could I get a 325 window sticker from someone on the forum? I'm wondering if I have self-esteem problems and I need professional help. Dr. Dave?

When I was younger and out of school for a year or so, I would get jealous at this one particular guy my age who drove the nice car and made a 20% down payment on his $250k new house. What I didn't know was that he had been living with his parents since college (was 2 yrs graduated) and as a result saved all his money. Too bad he was a total mommas boy and didn't know how to live on his own. At least that what his ex-wife later told me.

He was just lucky that he went to college in the same town in which he grew up. Couldn't fault the guy since I would've done the same thing.

I actually rather live at home for now(apts are ridiculously $$ here). Im still in college, and my family is traditional italians. The baby girl doesnt move out unless shes leaving for school or getting married. Haha.. Soo.... marriage isnt anytime soon, and i go to school here in SD. So if i can save my money and buy something that ive always wanted, shit, might as well do it now. The older i get, the more responsibilties ill have and bills..
