Hands free retrofit e82
Hello,
I’m going to retrofit hands free telematics system into my bmw 128i e82 2009. In the truck i found MUFL2/HI. Also there are additional wires not connected to MUFL, they wrapped with black matt and go through rear seat into the cabin. Car equipped with BMW Professional Radio already have USB and AUX. I bought Bluetooth antenna and hands free microphone. I need help to find location of cables going from trunk to cabin. I checked under steering wheel and can’t find cables there. Also I checked microphone location on center lighting panel next up to back view mirror and there is no microphone cable also. Can anyone suggest where can I find those location going form trunk. Thanks a lot. |

If you don't have the phone prep option you won't have the wiring. You will need to run your own. I am in the midst of this as well on my '11 128i. I bought shielded cable from Amazon, and the correct cable for the bluetooth antenna, and then the mic connector and pins from ECS. And a used column cover and mic from eBay (convertible, so different location to yours).

Retrofitting this is a lot of work. I retrofitted CIC/Combox into a 08 128i a few years that was prepped for Sat Radio, BT Phone. It takes a lot of wiring and coding but its 100% worth it.
Happy to say I have, BT phone, BT streaming, NAV, and video in motion. |
