You are either very handy with electronics or know someone who is, or proficeint with photoshop. I didnt even think apple has even put out an intergration kit for the new 3 just for the audio, let alone running the video. I cant wait to find out how you did it...

No way, you can't store 60 full DVD's on your iPod. Even the one with the most capacity. The highest Video iPod is 60GB.. Which is approximately 12 Full DVDs.

It would depend on how it is compressed. With mpeg 4 i can encode a dvd to be less than a gig, and that is at high quality.

I wasn't taking compression into consideration. Of cousre if you compress videos, you could actually fit way more than 60 DVD movies. Alll depends on how much and how you compress.

wow thats nice..I did the exact same thing in my G35 coupe but i didn't think it would be so easy with iDrive.. So basically you got the Apple a/v wire and somehow got a interface to put video on the iDrive screen right? Thinking of doin the same to my 545i soon.. which module did you use?

You better gas up quick or you'll have to wait in your car watching King of the Hill while waiting for the tow truck to bring you a few gallons of gas.

i think this would be very easy with anyone one of the aftermarket units that ARENT available yet. I was speaking with someone from avelectronic.com about a unit that was almost ready for our cars. if this person was the first person to have it, it would be pretty easy to watch anything or listen to anything from your ipod.
The fact that the units arent available yet, is the part i dont understand.
I Emailed avelectronics again last night, im sure i wont hear a response till tomorrow(monday)but i would think the unit should be just about ready. then we can talk about a group buy. then we could allll do this.

The one bad thing is that passengers would be unable to watch movies from that spot as well.
