Overhead console removal?!?
All,
Does anyone have any idea about removing the overhead console (where the in-cabin map lights are)? I'm in the process of retrofitting bluetooth in my car, and I need to install the mic in the overhead console, but when I attempted removing it, I was only able to remove the transparent plastic piece that covers the main center light. The other cover with the mic slits came partially off, but started bending and I did not want to break it so I pushed it right back into place. It seems as if both of these pieces (the transparent piece and the one with the mic slits) are only superficial and that there is a way to remove the whole thing as one piece. Any help/pictures will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! |

I don't know the exact steps but you should be able to find the trim removal instructions with a 24 hour subscription too www.bmwtis.com. You can print to PDF to save them for later using something like FoxIt. They also have all the TSBs and instructions for retrofits on ASAP portal.

look at the writeups for hardwiring a radar detector as most people like to install it by the rear-view mirror and tap into that same console. Also, if you're struggling to release the clips (you probably will), it helps to unscrew the torx (i think) bolts holding the visors into place.
