Retrofit 2009 sat radio
Hi everyone. I am a little but confused. I am looking to have sat radio in my vehicle. Just looking at some of the posts here, it looks like there is a receiver that needs to be purchased and installed in the trunk. But then I inquired from the dealership about the sat radio and they said all I need is activation code and install. I have a 2009 with idrive and nav. Can someone shed some light? Thanks!

Some newer cars have head units with sirius built in. I believe these are 2010+ cars. They require an activation code from the dealership.
Older cars (like mine) require a satellite radio box for the trunk. You can find them from junkyards from any E90 or E82. www.car-part.com is where I got mine from for around $150. Then you change the MOST box around behind the driver's side rear seat side. Instructions are easy to find on here. |
