2012 135i 6MT Trans Fluid and Diff Fluid Change
Hey there, picked up a 75k km 2012 135i a couple weeks ago and loving it so far. It's time to do the first DIY on it. Here's a picture attached below. So I'm looking to do a trans fluid and diff fluid change and I've searched the forums already and found this great write up for it, DIY: manual transmission and diff fluid change https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=409293
After doing some research I think my best options are Redline MTL for the tranny and Redline 75W-90 for the diff. What I still have not been able to get a concise answer on is the capacity's. The best I've heard is a little more than a litre for both the the n55 trans and the diff, can anyone confirm that? Also has anyone ran MTL while daily driving their 135i in Canadian winters and can speak on that experience? Any lastly does anyone want to give a quick run through of the differences they found with these jobs on a n55 135i compared to that 128i write up? |

I have a 2012 135 too. Get 2 Litres of both and you’ll be set. You might not need the second bottle of diff fluid but it’s better to have it than not. That write up is good, I think it’s the same on both. Just take off the fill plug first, then drain. Plug the drain and fill until it starts coming out.
