Rear Tail Light Plastic Cover Replacement?
Hey gang,
Had someone break the red plastic on my rear left tail light. Everything looks fine/not broken (bulbs, internal housing, etc.) Just the red plastic on the outside that helps turn the light red. Is there a part i can order that is simply the red plastic and replace it myself? Or am i looking at having to replace the entire tail light assembly for $400? Can't find any related threads on the topic (only full assembly replacements) nor can i find the individual part online. Found 1 video where a guy explains how to replace it on a 3 series (though i don't understand anything he said) Just curious as to how screwed i am. Thanks! <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgHzQNc7QqM> |

I don't think the part you're looking for exists in the BMW parts listings. That being said, I saved such a part from my wife's recent total of her 128i when it popped off that way. It looks like it could be glued back on a taillight reflector. Don't really know. What year and what side? I believe what I have is a left side pre-LCI version from a 2008.

Like the other guy said, it's all sealed.
No way it should be $400, a set of new blackline LCI lights are $350-$400 and that's for a set. Check on ebay or a junkyard for a used on, or here on the For Sale section. A single used tail light should only be like $75 USD. |
