Not one that competes against it, at least now. We'll have to see when the new G35 comes out, though I doubt it, just my opinion.

I only think it's a better buy if the purchaser likes it better or has no preference one way or the other.

For $50k, I'd buy an Audi A6. Apples and oranges, I know...

Chevy Corvette

400 hp for $44,500

Outhandles, outperforms the 335i hands down.

Is it "better" than a 335i overall. That's for you to judge. I say its darn close.

its about time someone recognized the best sports car and gave it props. The C6 was said by many car magazines as the best sports car for the money, period. The new GT500 SHelby Mustang was put up against the regular C6 with a sport package and with 100hp less (500hp for the Ford), the Vette still came up .2 seconds faster on the track at 4.3seconds 0-60 mph. For 45k, i doubt i would even consider a 335i, I mean the price is just way to high for a 3series when you can get a sports car thats up to par and sometimes even beating a Porsche. I would have to go with the Covette.
This is my reason alone for deciding to trade in my 325i for the new Camaro when it hits stores.

I've wondered about the Vette so many times. Forget teh 335, the Vette comes in at roughly the same price as a 330 when you spec out the 330 with the standard features of teh vette.

Unfortunately, it does not have the refinement or build quality of the BMW (people make jokes about rattles within two months). Also, although the C6 has upgraded interiors, I've heard that they are still not up to par.

I'll have to test drive a Vette to see if I can live with the ride (isn't it kind of harsh). If so, I might just get one of those instead of a 335. The milage will kill me though.

The thing that makes the Covette so great, IMO is that even with 400hp and 0-60 in 4.3, which is .1 sec slower than an M5, its half the price and its gas milage is 18 and 28, which is not reached by many V-8s in this market.

YEah that's the other problem with the Vette. I'd have to get gold rings for all ten fingers.

No way - I don't think you can compare a corvette with a bmw. The corvette has the ugliest interior and everytihng inside is just so tacky. I understand the car is powerful, but imo the suspension is way too stiff and unforgiving.

Sport car suspensions are not suppose to be soft and the suspension is great as is the car. If the car was as bad as some claim it to be, then there would be no reason for it to sell like it does nor to be put up against porsche's top of the line sports cars. this is probably the best sports car for your money, period. With things like the interior, yes it might look cheap, but I guarentee you would have far less problems with the mechanics than any type of BMW, especially something like an M5 or M6. I guarentee if this car had an Audi or BMW badge on it there would be much less bashing, and more praise. Dont look at the name brand only, but instead the engineering and you will see how great of a car the C6 is.

well polished turd is more like it

the vette puts down the numbers but lacks the total package, the interior is crap, the steering feel is vague, and the handling while impressive, is not scalpel accuarate.

the vette is a good car, but it's always going to have the "for the money" at the end of every compliment.

it's a fast car "for the money"........

drive a 911, then drive a vette and you'll see exactly where your extra 30 grand went. You get a much nicer, and more finely finished car

I love how we went from finding a better car for 50K to vette bashing in a blink of an eye

Lotus Elise or Lotus Exige...The Most Fun For Your Money!

The Lotus Elise or Lotus Exige:

http://www.caranddriver.com/article....ticle_id=10493

You think an Eisenmann sounds good? Then you've gotta hear an Elise or an Exige with a Larini exhaust...its scream is pure bliss! A Lotus makes you appreciate the pure basic sports car.

I look at it like this: If anyone wants to spend almost 55K on a 3-series, even though its a 335i, then thats fine, to each is own, but I always want to get my moneys worth. I dont see that car being worth that much. there are so many other cars at 50K dollars that I would rather get, M35, STS, New Escalade, Corvette, New Camaro, etc. Im not putting anything against the car, I know it will be a success but for that price i would gladly look elsewhere.

When you are all done pricing that 335i, go find a Z06 Corvette. Then you get to blow Ferraris off the highway AND you can leave the ten gold rings behind! (I love that one!) I'd put a Boxster on the list. Base 06's can be had for around 50k, it's an awesome performer, lot's of trunk space, but only 2 seats. Trust me, it's an unbelievable drive- I've left lots of higher specification rides in the dust with my little 2003 228 hp model.
