Yokohama S.drive: Any good?

After a family member (Thanks, Dad) offered to treat me with a new set of tires to replace my stock RFs, I'm in a bit of a jam. He says that the tires have to be stock sizes. Don't ask me why, that just was part of the agreement.
It seems that there are many fewer 135i coupe stock sizes than if I bumped up another 10mm front and rear. The two tires that came up on tirerack.com were the BFG KDW 2 and Yokohama S.drive. I read the test results on both tires, and I'm leaning toward the Yokohamas.
I do a decent amount of highway miles, but I also go out to autocrosses every 1-2 months.

So, what are your suggestions? Does anyone have the S.drives and wish to share their perspective? Are there any tires in the stock sizes besides the ones listed on TireRack?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any input you have.

from what i heard they are very good tires, had a friends that had them and he liked them. I plan on putting a set on once i get my aftermarket 19's. They are a very affordable tire that come highly recommended from the people i have spoken to.

Here is a link to a couple extensive tests we've done on that tire.

For less than $180/ea for 255 35's, I'd say they are pretty darn good value.

Thanks for the reference, I'll PM him.

As for the star specs, I think I still might to convince him. Maybe 225/40 and 245/40 as that setup still has stock rear width and should help the understeer.

stock rear width is 245/35/18 not 245/40.

I had a set of Yokohama avids and they were great. very sticky both in the wet and dry. The only draw back was they didnt' last very long, but all the way to the end they stuck like glue on the dry.

Compare all other brands of 245/35/18's to these, if someone finds a ligther street tire with more revs per mile please post, I'd like to know.
Will a 2 lb difference per tire make a 'big' difference with acceleration/speed at the track?

I just got them on and wow, not only do they look sexy, they feel like butter, nice and comfortable over bumps, smooth. They are quite sticky around hard turns and are 3lbs lighter than runcraps, its a great move. Just buy some slime/plug kit and air compressor!

I went for Toyo Proxes T1R in stock size. (215/245)
Other then the two you mentioned, Continental contact 2 are also availebly in stock size.

I went for the Toyos mainly because it was the only tire dekkonline.com had in stock sizes when i ordered. A litle noisy, but other than that great.

I've got them and I love them so far. Sticky and have good tough sidewalls to withstand those damn potholes from me.

went from Faulken FK452's to the Yoko S.Drives, and it was nite and day....they are phenomenal wheels, specially for the money. Great handling, very quiet, and super smooth.

How wide can you go with the S.Drives on the stock 17-inch 128i ZSP wheels?
