CF Trim Pieces
This is going to sound very VERY stupid. but i'm very closee to buying the CF trim for my 1er. But I only want the door handles and the big strip that runs above the radio on the dash.
Is that strip the Center Console trim, or the Instrument Panel trim? Please don't call me an idiot, but I can't figure it out. Ohh and the reason I care is that is that I have the Piano Black trim and I like the black on the ash tray, but not on the door or dash.

I would assume it is the Instrument Panel trim, as Center Console usually refers to the things down the middle (shifter, armrest, etc).

There is a guy on E46Fanatics who wrapped his trim with a CF cloth. Looks outstanding!! Kinda like the CF leather in the M3. Do a search over there.

Why would you not change the center console as well to have everything matchy matchy? Throw in side mirrors and rear spoiler while you're at it

I did the same thing, however I sprayed the shift surround and ashtray surround satin black (I purchased the two OEM pcs from my local dealer just in case the outcome was not favorable). It now matches the vents and the e-brake button exactly, this was an easier DIY match than the flat grey/black color of radio, heat control faces, and consol behind the shift surround. It looks very OEM. I will say this about the OEM CF interior pcs, they have a slightly brownish hue that has made me try a back up.
I'm actually having all my OEM grey wood stock pcs that I removed wrapped in CF fabric to see first hand what looks better. I will likely install only the dash and door pcs of the wrapped CF trim, because the matching console pcs look a little out of place to me. As tturedraider stated the stock ///M cars do not have CF console trim just the dash and door pcs are covered, this looks better to me. Either way, my interior looks 100x better that it did with the OEM grey wood... |

I can indeed. I used Krylon Fusion (Satin Black) and sprayed from about a foot and half to two feet away. This let the mist creat the same finish as the vents and the e-brake button. The e-brake button is right next to the shift surround, this makes it look OEM. I'll snap a few soon.

I've seen pics of the lower trim pieces in CF and I don't like the way they look. And I'm about to order a CF spoiler, diffuser, and blacked out kidney grills. I think the whole set will look good on SGM.
