Just tell her you want her to be a strong/capable woman, and that these are skills to have.

These days she excitedly goes to Cars and Coffee with me, understands the value in modding, enjoys adventures in the borderline AC'less 911, and is capable of basic maintenance. I'm a lucky guy.

On topic, which M54 tuners do a SAP delete?

I'm lucky, she into cars a lot - she just can't drive stick.

Active and Epic are the only one who will probably be able to handle that. Why the SAP in particular?

Because it is over 100k and that is generally when they fail. Useless part to begin with.

Active and Epic have coded it off in the past on the M54?

Does it, I never heard of it failing? AA will code off emissions - but the MS45 ecu is supposedly more stubborn.

Yeah, they are one of the causes of people's cold start issues.

Coding off emissions doesn't really help, then I'll fail state inspection. MS45 is resistant to change? Hrm...

I did some reading last night, looks like you can avoid a VEL by using a using a resistor...

Yeah I'm aware of that. It was the go to option for the E36 SAP delete, but seems to be a bit more hit or miss on the E46.

I'm glad we don't have emission testing here.

I'm glad the N52 doesn't have a SAP.

BMW: "Look guys we reduced stat-up emissions!"
Government: "Does that just pump fresh air into the exhaust track?"
BMW: "Yup!"
Government: "Looks great!"

Does the SAP on e46 need to be coded out. The DIY theads dont mention it. What about the EU2 flash?

Yeah, you get an emissions based CEL if it isn't coded off or properly sim'd.

As far as road dynos, the numbers are only as good as how well you run your test. Minor elevation changes, uneven roads, etc. can have a big impact. Also, you need really high quality logs (precise, very high sample rate especially in lower gears when a "pull" takes little time). Often logs are "noisy" due to imprecise measure or the fact things like RPM are instantaneous measures (so doesn't really rise smoothly), and the road dyno spreadsheet or program has to do a lot of smoothing/windowing. Cobb AP logs for the N54 seem to be pretty good compared to what I used to get on a Subaru with a 4800 baud serial line (slow as crap), so they may be a good candidate.

Does Virtual Dyno need the fancy BMW coding cables?

I have a Bluetooth OBD reader and I found some software than can do a Virtual dyno run with all the same input measures as this VirtualDyno

Nope, you just download the VD software and import your logs. Who/what are you doing for logs?

Just got my first log from a N53B30 belonging to KingofKingz from the OFT. Pretty awesome, feel free to send me yours.

Still need to get the gear ratios/tire size/weight but it's coming out well so far.

Bimmer Logger seems to work well too, and should be cheaper?
