Delivery tomorrow, checklist?
Hi Guys,
I have been super busy, but I finally get my car tomorrow! what should I do, not do, say, not say, upon delivery? Everyone has thrown their 2 cents before, I am just trying to sum it all together so that I don't miss something. So far I've got: - all weather floor mats - trunk liner if possible - ipod cable - check window rolling - complain about lack of flashlight - ask about book and certificate ok I can't think straight right now... anything else?

Ask for the actual PDI checklist that they used to PDI your car. We're paying big bucks for it so it would be good to see that they've done everything.

what's window rolling? And is this flashlight supposed to be included? The last 2 times I picked up a new car, I didn't get to take it out and test drive it before signing the papers, is that really necessary or even common?

Why would you bother asking for the Ipod cable? Just use the cable you should have received with your iPod. The BMW cable just allows you to play purchased songs (with DRM). All you ripped songs should play just using the standard iPod usb cable (at least that's my understanding). The cable is $105 from BMW (highway robbery). If your SA is willing to give you that much credit, why not use it for something useful....

I believe with the iPod cable you can control the iPod much better and it shows what the song is and playlists on the radio. Someone want to comment if I'm right?

The BMW ipod cable plays the songs on the ipod rather than the headunit and is the better option. The regular ipod cable treats the ipod as a hard disk and must index it before songs are shown on the headunit.
You cannot access your playlists, apple lossless files, drm files, etc. without the bmw cable or a homemade version of the same. |

Yes. It's in the glovebox, along with a short USB cable. The iPod cable supplied by BMW has one plug on the Ipod end, and two plugs that go into the car. One goes into the USB jack for control and song data transfer, and the other goes into the headphone jack for audio. It works just fine. :w00t: |

Only for those of you in the US. Those of us in Canada have to pay $100 or so for it.
