How much are taxes / how are taxes calculated on a vehicle purchase in canada?

Hi There,

You will pay thr following taxes on anew purchase. This is right off my inovice.

PST if ou live in Ontario, GST, Federal Air Conditioner Tax, Tax For Fuel Consumption.

There is a tire tax of $4 per tire you left out as well (or maybe you don't have it in Ontario? We don't have a fuel consumption tax in Alberta, so I suppose it equals out)

Full MSRP w/ options, Freight/PDI, and the Air/Tire tax all get charged your provincial GST/PST.

Only Alberta doesn't have PST, everywhere else in Canada is the same.

Some really screw you too...
Quebec charges 7.5% but they tax the GST as well, so it's effectively 7.875%

PEI also does this on their 10% PST, so it's effectively 10.5%

Yeah and its really 10.5% because they tax the GST as well. :biggrin:
