2008 128i SP recommendations?
I know nothing about tires, just that I love my car.
What do you knowledgeable folks recommend that'll work with stock SP wheels? I've been happy with PIrellis, and these seem well rated. But what would you guys go with? Really, really appreciate the advice! |

I really really like hankooks v12 evo. They are very cheap, and very good performance. If you look up reviews, they get nothing but praise, and play along with very nice expensive tires : )

Sorry for taking some time to respond, Charles. Unfortunately, new tires were put on hold after someone t-boned me. 24 days and a wrong quarter panel from Germany later, car's still at the body shop.
It's my daily driver down here in sunny Gainesville, FL. Daily commute isn't bad on traffic. The worst road conditions I run into are wet and rainy. Which is pretty much the entire summer. In terms of power usage, most often I drive it pretty light (staying below 3500 rpms). On occasion, if it's nice out, I'll drive it like it's made to be driven. Even still, rarely tripple digit speeds. Usually just fast take-offs. Pricewise, I'd like to keep it between 1000 and 1500, installed and out the door. Tax, TPMS, etc. Hope that answers your question |

Hmmm-have you looked into the Continental DW? It's recieved a lot of kudos.
Of course, it is not a run-flat. So, as I am thinking about changing this summer, I've got to think about my plan for a blowout. Could be the Continental Comfort kit, could be a doughnut spare (not cheap), could be one of my old tires mounted on a steelie as a temp spare. That being said, I did drive 50 miles on a flat Pirelli P-Zero run-flat last year on the Washington Beltway during rush hour to get to a dealer. It worked, but the new tire was cost-a-plenty. However, if you can't get a new set of P-Zeros out the door for a thousand, call me. You can do far better. The P-Zeros are not bad for a run-flat. I'm just hearing the siren song of those who have changed to "regular" tires. |

Or you might investigate the Conti DWS. Although they are "all-season" (and non RFT - buy a compressor & plug kit), they handle very well, give an excellent ride, have an exceptional tead life rating of 540, and will allow you to venture northward in colder weather to see how the other half lives - should you be so inclined!
With a BMWCCA discount, a set for my ZSP equipped (17" staggered wheels) 128i cost me $600 out the door. Tom |
