Interesting story, we do not collect out-of-state sales tax.
What state do you live in?

My zip code is 30071 and at the end of the check out session, Tire Rack web-site added the 6% sales tax at the end. I was suprised too, since this would consider out-of-state purchase. Other wise, I would have bought my tires from Tire Rack.

Mystery solved. 30071 is in Georgia and we have a warehouse there, which makes it an in-state purchase for you. Thus the need for us to collect sales tax.

Mail order companies need to collect sales tax for sales in any state in which they operate. This includes not only their headquarters, but regional distribution centers, etc.
