Made the mistake of taking it to Firestone for an alignment after finally installing my M3 arms. Gotta go to work tomorrow and it was the only place open.
Idiots decreased my camber after I told them I was shooting for -1.5. Now I’m sitting at -1.3 L, -0.6 R. According to them “it doesn’t matter, won’t make a difference”. On top of that, my car had an extra 12 miles on it when I finally got it back, 3 hours later than they told me it would be ready. Hmm… |

My 128i is now a workhorse... I picked up a project! Probably gonna pique some interests with this, and lose some others.
I got a 1992 Honda Beat!!! I worked for a Japanese car import shop a few years ago (well, still do on the side) and my boss at the time bought a '91 Beat in. I drove it and fell in love right away. Has many of the same qualities I like in my 128i. Manual, NA motor that loves to rev, RWD, very strong handling. Follow the progress on Instagram @Honda.Bito Overview: 1992 Honda Beat "PP1" "Kei car" - low speed, low tax, city cars for the Japanese domestic market Festival Red (R80) over Zebra interior 5spd manual only Mid engine, rear wheel drive Curb weight ~1675lbs 64 HP 660cc 3 cylinder "E07A" engine with ITBs from factory (right behind your head!!) Manual steering Drop top convertible It needs a motor though.. my friend imported it 100% at cost as a favor for me, so i inherited the risk of buying a car from a used auction on the other side of the world. When we got it the motor was locked up, tried turning it but it feels like it dropped a valve or something. I have the motor on a stand already and I'm about to pull the head, just getting myself organized and removing the accessories/manifolds/etc first. Timing belt was surprisingly okay, thought it snapped. Hopefully not too much carnage inside. Last edited by desertman123; 07-20-2021 at 07:22 AM.. |

Replaced pass side mirror, which was delaminating. Did not want it to leak corrosive sh@t down side of the car.
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ht-51167230980 Objects in mirror are more expensive than they appear 300 w CCA discount, but . . . . really? |

Vibrant ultra quite resonator showed up. Gonna replace the Vibrant bottle style res I swapped my muffler for. The bottle res has an incredible sound but the drone is godawful, way worse than a straight muffler delete. Hopefully the ultra quiet will fix it.
Now I need to order some spacers. Thinking 12mm F/15mm R. Anyone know if those sizes would cause rubbing with style 262s and BMWP springs? |

SPORT SEAT RETROFIT BABY! Manual to Manual swap. Seats came from a junkyard 100 each. They were in OK condition but after cleaning them up they look great! You can see the uncleaned pass seat in the background. No more crappy hard-as-a-rock base seats for me.

Took my passenger side door trim off to find out why horrible clicking noises happen every time I lock the doors. Looks like I'm up for a new lock actuator. It's time to open up my wallet again......

Had my Vibrant ultra quiet installed. Pretty happy with it so far. Killed almost all of the drone that I had with the bottle-style while keeping the very smooth sound. ~20% quieter, hopefully it'll get a bit louder as it breaks in.

I sourced and fitted my faulty passenger side door lock actuator. Kudos to leagues58 whose diy guide I followed https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...=door+actuator The old one came out quite easily. The new one going back in was a different story! After much cursing and some subtle metal manipulation, in it goes. Why couldn't BMW just make the hole big enough!
On a side note, I picked up a kit which contained units for both passenger and driver's side doors for $189 from my local dealership (factory parts in a factory box). If I were to request one it would have to be shipped from Sydney and would have cost me $420!!!!!. |
