Are the 2011 N52 Engines Different From the Other Model Years
A commenter on BAT claimed that the 2011 N52 engines are less reliable than the other model years. This is the first I've heard of it (but I've only had my 128i for about a year).
Can anyone expand on this? Is it accurate, does it apply only to the SULV motors, or are there issues I should address proactively. Thanks.

2010 to 2012 cars with N51, N52, and N55 engines could potentially have VANOS bolt issues. The bolts could loosen and back out of the VANOS actuators at the front of the engine under the valve cover. Lots of threads on it.
I think all the 3 series cars got an actual recall and the 1 series just got a 10 year extended warranty on the issue, if it ever happened. As far as I know, my car has the original bolts, but next time the valve cover comes off I'm going to replace the VANOS bolts one at a time just to know that it's been done.
