Happy New Year - Soon To be 10 year anniversary

Happy New Year everyone. While they say things will get worse for a bit, overall 2021 has to be better. Also Starting in the spring, will be 10 years from 2011 when the 1M came out. A special virtual high five to all of those that were there in the beginning and remember when the 1M first came out. I will celebrate August 1, 2021 as the 10 year anniversary of the day I saw my 1M for the first time. In the meantime everyone stay safe and all the best in '21!

Happy New Year! Happy Anniversary upcoming!

My car was not built until late October/November 2011 when I looked it up so original owner did not get the car until 2012, that would have been a long wait.

Not an original owner, but the 2nd. I have already owned the car for five and a half years, vs. 3.5 years for the first owner. I also think that I have taken better care of it than he did.

Original owner here. October was my 10 year anniversary for putting down the deposit, and my delivery anniversary will be in September.

Halfway to collector car status in my state.

Original owner. Picked up at performance center September 1.
154,000 miles.
Still have the same giddy feeling as the first time I saw it.

Looks great!!! That's awesome you put that many miles and still running great, I just want to share few things with the original owners. So mine is about 50k miles now and last year, I had to replace some plastic connectors because it crack and I did the research about it and seems like a common problems on bmw engines and our 1M is not immune to this, good thing I found it and did easy diy replacement.
When I found the coolant leak, it was small but when I uninstall it, the plastic connection just fall apart in couple of pieces, glad it didn't happen when I was driving. Initially I saw few drips on my driveway and so I try to locate it, but couldn't find it. After a quick search on the web, I found few hints and so I play around and found the hose connection to cylinder head thermostat.

Right now there is a burnt oil smoky smell, and believe its the valve cover and gasket problem that most n54 engines have, so I'm wondering of those high mileage car 1M out there, have this issues yet?

My car is still running great by the way, after the I replace that water hose and plastic adapter thingy. The part number is 11-53-7-541-991, about $100 and depend what you have as a dealer lol. Hose came with plastic connection.

My 1M is at 122k, yep had the leaky valve cover gasket, along with oil thermostat and filter housing gaskets. All three were easy DIY to replace. Luckily have not had cracked valve cover issue yet.

The plastic mickeymouse coolant fitting is available in aluminum for 20 bucks, cheap permanent fix.
