$2300.00 BMW Approved Chip.
I was told by Bavaria BMW, my dealer, that I could get a chip installed that would still be covered under BMW's warranty. This chip will remove the speed limiter at 240km. Increase horsepower to 398 and increase foot tourqe to 412.
What do you guys think? |

I think thats referring to the Dinan reflash you can get for the ECU. It is fully warranteed, but it would be Dinan covering any costs, not BMW Canada. But since most Canadian BMW dealers are authorized Dinan dealers, yeah it would probably be your local BMW dealership doing any warranty work.
There's plenty of info on it around. just google Dinan and BMW or something.

I'm sure his friend just heard it wrong and it is a Dinan upgrade as Bavaria is a Dinan authorized dealer.

Authorized Dinan dealers who install these modifications do the warranty work and send the bill back to Dinan. It's no different than when the dealer does warranty work for BMW's. It's not like the dealership eats it. The dealership gets money back from BMW Canada.

Yes that's it, I thank you for re-freshing the memory on that one. This is the correct answer. The delivery walk through was an overload of glorious, heart pounding joy. Just so I could press that throttle. So as it slipped my mind, so you sparked the answer I was looking for. tyvm, and thanks all. |

I can confirm that the Dinan flash is $2300 (labour included), at least at Calgary BMW (Dinan authorized). I believe this upgrade gets us to 384hp and 421lb-ft, though the gains are probably slightly less at our altitudes.
