so it almost seems a better idea to get the 9500ix since its much more reasonable then get the laser "jammers" put in seperately if your going to get them.
What are peoples thoughts on the Laser Shifters ? Do they actually work ? If you buy the 9500ix and get laser shifters seperate it could be half the price for the same thing ? (as the ci) |

I unfortunately waited to long to get a radar detector and got my first ticket in mye 135 about 2 months ago... since then I bought a beltronics vector 955 and it does the job (especially on the PA turnpike)...

The auto-learn function is the best feature. As you drive around town it automatically locks out locations with a static radar signal, like all of the drug stores and grocery stores. So after a few weeks of driving around town the detector will automatically block these out, and you realize that the only time it goes off is for a police radar. VERY quiet in daily use after it has learned your area. You can also use the GPS to mark your known police hiding spots, so it will warn you as you approach. The downsides are price, size (big) and paid subscription required for location database updates. Another mention here is the program "Trapster" (www.trapster.com), an installed program on your mobile phone (iPhone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Nokia series 60, must have GPS) which is a "location sharing program" for speed traps. When you are driving down the road and approach a location where another user has recently noted a speed trap, you will be alerted. If you are driving and see a speed trap, mark it and other drivers will be alerted as they approach. Very cool, works well and alerted me to State Police cluster F*** south of Atlanta. It is dependent on the quality of data its users provide, so get out there and start providing (and benefiting)!

i have had v1 and have found that the filter isn't the best but the arrows are great. i currently use a k40 detector/laser jammer.. my back up is a sti driver. sti is the best portable radar i have ever had, far surpasses the range of the v1 and even sometimes alerts me of danger before my k40.

+1 on Trapster, it's dependant on the quality of reports but you can also see routes that other users recently travelled, it works very well. Definitely uses lots of battery power on the iPhone.
