Josh, there are many 1Addicts that have a Dinan tune and are happy with it. No need for links since you yourself have been a participant in some of those threads and are already aware of it.
You've been contemplating (procrastinating) getting a Dinan tune for years. Either do it or don't, or get MHD if you'd prefer. Or just stick with PPK. At least it's something more than the stock tune... until you can make a decision.

I think that would run you... $100 on MHD? The user mentioning the JB4/BEF is referencing N54 performance, which obviously doesn't apply. MHD is the clear winner for N55 tuning.

Stage 2 $500 + install (no FBO requirements) Stage 3 $600 + install (requires oil cooler (which I have) & FMIC (which I don't) DIY Stage 2 $600 Cost of MHD: Android Device = $100 (Best Buy) WiFi Adapter = $70 Flasher Module $200 MapPack $50 I don't have an android anything around the house, don't have their module or a K-Dcan cable so I'd be looking at $420 vs. $600 for the DYI versions. I have the Carly app so I can read codes and check perimeters, etc. Esteban I hear what you are saying buddy. I seem to recall some procrastination on your part about Dinan and losing PPK sound (something more than a year...) LOL! Don't know how this thread spiraled into another debate of MHD vs Dinan when its to each his own sort of thing.

You are sooo right! It was more expensive then, so more of an investment (much better deal now). I did eventually get it, though. But yeah, I always think of myself as the numero uno procrastinator. Just an excuse for me to be lazy.

FWIW, you can probably save another $50-$100 on the MHD option if you buy a cable on Bimmergeeks (instead of Wi-Fi adapter) and pick up a tablet on EBay. That’s what I did.
Regardless, even outside of the money, functionality and options differences, the MHD maps are simply better, which is why I keep bringing it up. |

I bought an Amazon Fire tablet, pretty much just for MHD, it's honestly pretty slow compared to any modern device. $50 on Amazon, if you opt for the "With Special Offers" which is them just loading a whole bunch of ads on the thing.

Guiltily I will admit that the convenience of MHD WiFi is awesome. But I log with my phone, so the ~$60 was worth it to me. As for the Android device, it doesn't matter as long as it has a recent Android version, and supports USB OTG. The type of USB port on the phone will determine what adapter you need.

And you can literally use just about any android device, I use a 6 year old phone that you can probably buy on ebay for about 30$ (LG G4). Device, cables, and tune you're looking at $300. I had to remove my tune for a smog check, these cars drive like shit on the stock tune. Going back asap.

Hey Josh, I agree with "it's to each his own sort of thing." Especially if my shit is old and the newer shit is better. What do I know, I don't even own a 1er any more lol. Good luck, and want to hear what you think, whatever choice you make.
