Front brake pad Bedding procedure

Hello all. I am looking to install my new front rotors and pads on my 135i I went with zimmermann rotors and pads. ( blank vented discs).

Can anyone explain to me the proper bedding procedure to make my brakes and pads last? I'm betting the ones on it now haven't been as they are warped very badly..

The write up procedure I found didn't go into great detail but I was curious if the brembo position calipers require any special tool? Or do the pads just twist in?

TIA

The sticky on brake pad replacement is for a 135i. It is above this thread in the long list of stickys.

I don't think there is any magic way to bed new pads with or without rotor replacement. You need to recognize your stopping distance will increase, however, and take it a little easy for a few hundred miles or so. I recently replaced my pads and they also made a little noise for a day or two.

I've always followed (more or less) what is on the Stoptech website.

I've tried numerous different bedding techniques always with the same results: They work just fine after a few miles. I cracked a rotor one time at the track and swapped on brand new pads and rotors in the paddock. I bedded them with 2-3 moderate-speed laps before hammering on them and it was perfection. Beat the crap out of them after that and never had an issue.

My new pads bedded after a few days of normal driving and make no noise now.

Here's what my rotors look like after bedding. Does this look the way they should? I had noticed a decent increase in stopping power it has way more bite than previously

Looks fine to me. The only way you see an appearance difference is if the pads are riveted (instead of bonded) and wear to the point the rivots touch the calipers and wear grooves into them. Normally the most sensitive thing about brakes is stopping and noise. I once put a pad on backwards (not very possible on my bimmer) and the car would still stop and the rotor looked OK but the stopping distance was long and it made some noise. I could tell it wasn't right. We took it apart and found the backwards pad. I could have just put it back together and I'm sure it would have been fine but it was my step daughters car so I replaced the rotor.

It is possible to make some pretty bad mistakes without the car becoming inoperable, in other words. If it isn't making bad sounds and stops like it should, it is very likely to be fine.

Okay yeah it stops perfectly fine. The only thing I had noticed after the new pads that I didn't before was if I'm going about 5mph and tap the brakes lightly I can feel it engaging it almost feels loose?

I hadn't noticed that before with the old pads. But it stops just fine and there are no funny noises.
