Not sure why you'd go through all that trouble only to put 245 on the front. You can do that (or even 255) on a 128/135. Hell if I keep the car I may get the ER front widebody kit.
Looks good so far! Very cool to see this kind of custom work.

M-division only uses that size because its is what they could afford and what they found conservative enough for daily use/possible snow use. They account for alot of factors that you, I and most other performance enthusiasts don't care about, and thus often under-size wheels/tires.

well phase 1 almost complete, both sides finished and going in for the respray today, after that is done we will install the 1m exhaust, interior, wheel liners and other bits and pieces - cant wait to get it back now as with both sides done i can really see the hughe visual impact this car will have esp with the bonnet
please note that you need the 1m crash barrier to fit the exhaust as well phase 2 will be rear subframe and diff along with m3 front brakes, after that off to evolve to put some 400bhp magic on it |

Great project and one I'd love to do but, I just can't help knowing that even after you've spent so much on the conversion, the car is actually worth less than a stock 135i. Definitely a project for someone planning to keep the car forever.

I wouldn't go that far. A non-performance enthusiast either isn't gonna know the difference or isn't gonna care. And a performance enthusiast would probably value it more from the added performance value. This is assuming a proper conversion has been done.

No-one is going to pay a premium for a 'fake' 1M. Sure it may handle just as good, but so does a 135i with stock body, Quaife and M3 bits which sells for little more than a stock 135i on the used market hence people always part-out.

I'm not saying they'd pay a premium for it, but it surely wouldnt be worth less than a stock 135i. Cars with M3 bits and LSDs are never worth less... This would be no different.

Cheers mate, doubt it's worth less than stock when it's completed with all the m3 suspension and brakes on it, I'll be keeping it for a while anyway

Premium prices go for good spec cars with as few number of owners as possible, and with full BMW dealer history. Modded cars if limited to a few things, will be valued the same, maybe fractionally lower or higher depending on the mods, but highly modded cars are always worth a lot less than a standard or near standard car. It's just a simple fact here. That doesn't mean that someone wouldn't pay above 'book' price for a highly modded car, but it's far from certain. UK car market here is very different to USA.

Seriously got to disagree with this look at all the focus rs's and m3's with choice mods on them, they always command a higher premium, you seriously telling me that this car is now worth less than 18k?

Focus RS's are still in chav territory so aren't quite comparable with a 135. I've been around modded cars of all sorts for well over 30 years, and in my experience over that time is that heavily modded cars almost always never sell for a significant, if any, premium over a stock or mildly modded car. And sorry, but, yes, I'd happily say your car is worth less than 18k.

Lets not derail OP's thread - the car looks great. Mods vs Worth is a separate conversation. Most of us heavy builders do not build or mod cars with resale even in mind. The value in heavy builds is all in the process.
