Purchased a 135i!

Hey fellas,

It's my formal introduction into the family. I just picked up my first real BMW, she's a 2009 135i 6MT in Crimson red. 34k miles, old lady owned and bone stock for now. The car is incredible so far. I'm anxious to learn about this platform and have plenty of plans for the car. I spent 4 years in an E46, so this is a pleasant upgrade to say the least.

Edit: Mods I'm not sure why I accidentally put this is exhaust / drivetrain mods I meant for it to be in general. Feel free to relocate it!

Congrats! Love the color! Don't be too relieved that an old lady drove it. Old Lady + 6MT + a pretty beastly car = cool old lady that loves to have fun.

Lol While you're at it, you may now start talking about modding to have the thread relevant to its current category.

Evidently this old lady bought the car as a midlife crisis mobile and realized that she bought way out of her league so she traded it in on a Buick. It was literally perfect for me, had everything I wanted in it. I now am finding out crimson is a fairly rare color. This car POPS like a Ferrari in parking lots compared to everything else with this color.

As far as mods go, I am absolutely curious. I know a ton of guys do catless DP, front mount, cat back exhaust and a dual cone intake with a tune to cap it off. As far as an exhaust goes, I'm really completely up in the air as what to do. On my E46 I had a traditional muffler delete with a cherry bomb resonator in its place and I liked it in the low end but up top is just lost all tone and just sounded so flat. I'm not sure of the target sound I'm going for with this one, I've got a lot of YouTube to listen to.

Congrats man! It's pretty much a consensus on here that the first thing to do would be to get a tune. Most bang for your buck

Welcome! I saw your thread on E46F about your thoughts on if to buy or not. I bought my 135 a month ago and I love driving it haha! Enjoy.

Imo just go bmw pe or berk race, everything else drones. (Maybe some really expensive ones dont but i havent seen anyone with them)

Get charge pipe and bov before you tune it, the rest is really whatever order you feel like.

Anything you feel like really but people tend to go tune first as that's what gives most power. As for Catless DPs, they're nice and all but watch out for the car being too loud (especially in conjunction with a modified exhaust) and the smell.

Of course, I'll get a different set of tires first (just from seeing how jarring the RFTs). Otherwise, I'd definitely go tune along with FMIC first. I'm just scared of high temps seeing how hot this car already runs. Since my car already gives more than enough power, I don't really care much for more power.

Thank you guys for the compliments. Unfortunately I've already got some bad news in that the car on our maiden voyage (into town on a nice Saturday night in NW Florida to meet up with everyone for some show & tell) threw 6 check engine lights / malfunctions. The ABS system, the Dynamic braking control, cruise control, restraint system malfcuntion, start off assist malfunction, and something else I can't remember what I think DSC was completely turned off. So needless to say it was quite a buzz kill, I brought it right back to the dealer the next morning and they've had it for 2 days. They report back that both front wheel speed sensors are kaput and I should have the car back in 2 days. Lets hope thats all it is, I'm nervous about that ABS hydro unit being the culprit they're choosing to ignore.

Got all the paperwork back from the dealer, it was a faulty left front ABS wheel speed sensor and a faulty rear right wheel speed sensor that both failed at the same time. Fixed on their dime which was excellent, and $500 later I'm tearing up the road again. This car is simply spectacular I am so freaking happy I bought it.

I bought a 08 last year, so fat clocks at 80k and ohave only needed coils plugs and walnut blast. As for exhaust I have the maddad wisper quiet, zero drone. Also cx racing intercooler, it's cheap but very functional, intake air temps under boost flatline even after multiple pulls. Tune is a must also.
