I am usually sleeping after sun down. I will have to stay up and check it out.
It is pretty cool how the color likes to shift subtlety.

Just programed my garage door opener. Next is asking the guys at the dealer ship if they can turn on the digital speedo.

Willis, Back at you.

Will a dealership actually code on a digital speedo? I had mine done a couple weeks ago by bimmer-tech when they activated my Sirius for me.

What's weird is apparently the digital speedo is MUCH better when you have a manual than if you have a DCT. I guess all the pics I'd seen were manuals because on a manual, when the digital speedo is on, it takes up the whole top line of the instrument cluster, and your odometer and trip computer stay on the bottom line.

With a DCT, since it seems to always have what gear you're in on the upper right-hand corner of that bottom instrument cluster display, when you turn on the digital speedo, it breaks it up into two lines, so the top line says, "v = " and the bottom line, left-hand corner is your mph, and the odometer and trip computer disappear. Very weird and doesn't look as nice on the DCT in my opinion.

Here's a visual:

Greg, I don't know if the dealer will turn the speedo on, but I will find out.

I posted some pics on the show me your 135IS tread

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...2#post14248042

I drove a little way up Mt Lemmon Rd this morning which is a nice twisty road with many bicycle riders to watch out for. those folks are pedaling up that road in the 95 degree heat at 9 this morning, wow... but any way what a great car

Stay Cool

I saw the pics, which look amazing, though they were torturing me earlier as I started second-guessing my decision to not get the blue-stitched leather.

I don't think the dealer will do any of that custom coding, but I could be wrong. Your best bet is to find someone local or there are a few people/companies on here that can do it remotely. I only had a couple of things done as I mainly wanted the digital speedometer, but figured as long as they were in there they might as well disable the idrive disclaimer every time you turn on the car.

Sounds like you're enjoying that sexy beast! Now quit torturing me with your exclusive blue-stitching. =P

Hey MB, check the first page of this thread. I posted it there.

I ended up debadging already. It was very easy to pop those things off. Now it's just a generic BMW

I'll get some pics soon. I don't just want to take them in the driveway. Need to find somewhere a little better.

Greg,
Right again, the dealer declined to turn on the digital speedometer! Which is ok since I am adjusting to the analog speedometer. Funny thing is the service advisor asked me if I was interested in the Dinan Stage 3 at 3 k bucks. Must be a k buck per stage...

Is that the full Stage 3 power package? I doubt it. Dinan requires their oil cooler and intercooler upgrade.

Ya, they're weird, they won't do any coding but will gladly try to upsell you a $3,000 package. I'll take half a stage!

I think we're in the same boat though as my previous car had a big digital speedometer right in the middle of the instrument cluster and I was so used to it, I wanted to replicate it on this car. But, the gauges are really big and easy to read, so even though I have mine on, I don't find myself even looking at it very much, so don't think it's really all that great. If it were larger and in the top part of the cluster where the time and date are, that'd be better, but a small line down below isn't quite as easy to read or as helpful.

Your best bet is to find a local coder or find one of those sponsors on here who will send you a cable and can code a few things for you remotely. I paid $40 for 3 coding things to be done remotely. Actually, i just looked at bimmer-tech who did mine and they have a shop in Tucson believe it or not at:

blue+white BMW specialists
5728 East 22nd Street
Tucson, AZ 85711

What are the odds? Hope they change their name to blue+white+red for 4th of july and to be a lil more american, though I know the name I guess is to signify the BMW roundels.

Willis, the 135is has the oil cooler and inter cooler already so it should be good for the stage 3. But 3 thousand bucks is out of my league.

greg, that's wacky that blue & white are brothers to the guys by you. just so happen I found blue&white on a Google search earlier today. good to know they're nearby.

They are only brothers in the corporate sense since I had mine done remotely all the way out in Warsaw, Poland believe it or not! That's where bimmer-tech is headquartered and does most their remote coding. I think they have partnerships with a few local shops around the country probably moreso to install some of the hardware components of their retrofits. The most intriguing and interesting one I might do one day down the road is the rearview backup camera. I've watched videos of it done on 3-series, and basically where the LED light is next to the trunk that lights up the license plate gets swapped out for a camera + LED, and it wires right into the power for the reverse lights and connects to the idrive via the aux. So, when you put it in reverse, bam, it powers on the camera and shows up on the idrive screen and looks completely OEM.

Anyways, to make a long story short, I'm sure you can give them a call and they can give you a full list of fancy coding things they can do. Most people like to get the ones for the remote that will put all the windows/sunroof down by holding the button and then up+fold mirrors when you hold down lock. Whole slew of things you might want to check out.
