Cool

Wow, this is huge. My rattles started after my warranty expired. This is great news!

Shame they didn't go 10 years 100k miles! Sigh.
It's better than nothing.
I wonder what they will do about carbon build up?

Nothing. Carbon build up is not a 'defect' or caused by anything BMW did wrong. It is an inherent side effect of all DI engines - at least the way they are currently designed.

I would classify carbon build up as a maintenance thing.

I imagine the people that have stuff done to their car are screwed with this "warranty".

Like any claim, probably depends on the mod and whether is likely (can be proven?) the mod caused/contributed to the issue. That said, I do wonder if downpipes would void things.

The warranty is nice - even though it is not in Canada yet (ever?). That said, if turbos go I personally would consider going the RB's - even if I had the turbo warranty.

I love how you American's kick BMW's ass. Seriously. In the UK we get bent over and shafted hard with sand used as a lubricant, BMW UK deny knowledge of anything.

Another excuse to push the car a little bit harder

I had my issues with them over the HPFP and I finally just got it done. I expect the turbo's will be another matter out of warranty as it's a big job but during warranty I had them replaced on my 335i without question really (other than from the dealership). I just walked in there and said, "I bought this damn car from you, it rattles like a 20yr old Nissan, I know what the problem is so fix it or have it back". They eventually took the car in, dropped the engine and agreed, 1 week later I had the car back BUT, without BMW warranty? I don't know, I think I just had leverage there because I had only had the car 4wks at that point but they tried to fobb me off on the software update first and then implied the rattling was a heat shield and was normal.

Based on my trouble with the HPFP out of warranty, I mean it was a real pain to fight this, I don't see them budging on the turbo's.

What are the chances this warranty would be voided by a DCI?
