For the 128, apparently none of the braking-related parameters are the same.

What I'd be most curious about is how the 1M differs from the standard 1's?
We know the M doesn't have the nannies turned off. So it should also be with out saying that 'tuning' the nannies might give the best/fastest results.
I imagine the slip-angle settings (understeer/oversteer) are much less intrusive.

Any news on some of the E82 128 Params?

I can't find any code related to several of the items OP mentions he found in the MK60 module for his X1. Maybe the 128i actually doesn't have a lot of these electronic nannies? I'll be waiting to hear back if anyone finds them in another module or something, but here is what I was able to find/change:

EDIT: "Brake Standby (e84_EVB)" is called "Ready Alert Brake (C0F_BB_RAB)" on an E82... no screenshots of this

Guys, I am sorry I kind of fell off the face of the earth. My car was totaled and I was pretty upset by the whole situation. It has been nearly 45 days and I am still fighting insurance and do not even know if it has "officially" been classified as totaled yet (it clearly is). That being said, while the situation has stifled my ability to work on this, I should be meeting with a friend with a 128i in early april to take a look at his coding files and try to figure some stuff out.

I have a deposit down on a M2 and I will certainly delve into the coding there, but not sure how much will be applicable to the e series cars.

On a side note, I can't seem to actually write the code to my car. I get as far as exporting from NCSDummy to the .MAN file. I then go back to NCSExpert and change the job from "CODIERDATEN_LESEN to SG_CODIEREN and click "EXECUTE JOB." The idiot lights all go beserk and NCSExpert indicates the job completed. However, I can't seem to verify anything actually changed. I can see the coding changes were exported to the .MAN file by NCSDummy (File date and time changed and "wert" values reflect my changes). After executing the job with NCSExpert there don't seem to be any changes though. When I re-read the module, producing a new .TRC file, the values are still stock...

Am I doing something wrong here?

Honestly, you managed to find what I consider the most important three. I will be looking at a friend's 128i in a couple of weeks, but if you can disable these it is a good sign.

Sorry to hear about the car. I'll be playing with ncs expert some more today to try to figure out why my new settings aren't sticking.

What profile are you using in ncsexpert?

your issue may be that expert mode usually doesn't have fsw psw manipulate enabled, unless you manually enabled it. the only time i use that profile is when i need to flash a blank.man to reset a module, and i usually don't do that anymore because there is a better way to reset a module.

if you go to b m w coding dot com there is a tutorial on how to create your own profile. The steps in that tutorial will walk you through setting up a profile that has fsw psw manipulate enabled.

Weird no guide ever mentions setting up a profile. I see that revtor's profile was renamed to "ncs dummy profile" and that came pre-loaded so I'll try using that.

UPDATE:

Using that profile did the trick. Brake fade and brake overheating is now turned off (I hope). Thanks for your help!

Can anyone shed any light on the following (compared my TRC to an 09 335i):

C0F_LENKWINKELKENNLINIE (STEERING ANGLE CHARACTERISTIC CURVE)
13 base 128i = wert_03
09 335i = wert_00 & wert_01

C0F_SCHUBABSCHALTUNG (DECELERATION FUEL CUT-OFF [WERT_00: DISABLED, WERT_01: ENABLED]
13 base 128i = wert_00
09 335i = wert_01

-Is it possible to simply activate this? It cuts fuel to save gas when coasting downhill...

C0F_DBC_MIN_AUSLOESEDRUCK (DYNAMIC BRAKE CONTROL (DBC) MINIMIUM RELEASE PRESSURE)
13 base 128i = wert_00
09 335i = wert_00
Data: E4

-There is no other setting for this but the data value is populated so is it active? Seems like if "data" is "0" then whatever settings you're looking at is not active. Since there is data in wert_00 in this case it probably IS doing something?

C0F_CBC (CORNERING BRAKE CONTROL (CBC))
13 base 128i = wert_00
09 335i = wert_00
Data: 0

-Again, there is no other setting for this and the data value is "0" so does that mean no CBC for either model?

If anyone has an m-sport TRC I can look at please paste it! At this point all I can conclude is that 128i/335i models don't have half the crap to code that the x1 has in the MK60 module.

-Again, there is no other setting for this and the data value is "0" so does that mean no CBC for either model?

If anyone has an m-sport TRC I can look at please paste it! At this point all I can conclude is that 128i/335i models don't have half the crap to code the x1 has in the DSC module. Other than what I posted above, I didn't see any other lines of code that I thought might be useful to edit.
The 335xi definitely does as I have coded all of the identical stuff off.

I have not messed around with a 28i in person yet (just seen a few trc files emailed to me), and there is a different DSC module in RWD vs. xdrive cars as well which has some differences.

I think it also depends on what year your car is, I have seen different parameters in different years.

I really want to find a way to disable the brake pre-tensioning on the 128. Everything else is just a bonus, but that is *obnoxious* for motorsport applications.

Wow, bummer about your car! I hope you get everything worked out satisfactorily with you insurance company.

Please do post any updates you come up with after getting your hands on a 128i - I know there are several of us looking for a workaround for some of the more intrusive software settings.

So, looking at this image it seems that also 125i and 128i have E-Diff already active... Has anyone tried to code the DSC with wert_01?

I'm not planning to install an LSD this year so I want to be sure that at least I have the one already available from BMW

I've done it. I'm still testing the results. I need more information from more experienced members to figure out if it is truly off or not.

So what I'm seeing/feeling is that:

1) There is still braking intervention with DTC & DSC still on/with DSC on only. I guess this is expected since I'm not actually coding off traction/stability control.

2) While testing in snow with DTC & DSC off, I still felt something holding back the rear tires. There were occasions where I had trouble getting the car rotated unless I really upset the balance of the car.

I have an autocross event coming up. I'll try to update with more thoughts later.

You guys are both misunderstanding that setting. Coding the e-differential off does not effect the other systems like dsc/asc/cbc. I am not sure if turning off dsc (holding traction button for 3 seconds) turns off asc or cbc. If it doesn't, that may be why you're still not able to slide without intervention. If this is the case then you'll have to research the asc lines of code as I don't think anyone has messed with those yet.

I am pretty sure it has been confirmed in this thread, and elsewhere, that setting the e-diff from wert_02 to wert_00 & wert_01 (together) will disable it. I didn't do it myself because I don't have a mechanical lsd. The picture I posted is of the e-diff active on the 128i (wert_02).

My question was slightly different, BMW has always said e-diff is available only on 123d and 135i but looking at how my DSC is coded I would say also 125i has e-diff.
So I was thinking if coding off the e-diff on a 128i really works or it doesn't change anything cause e-diff is anyway not available!

So my question is how should I go about verifying that the e-diff is actually off? I have a mechanical diff and C0F_DIFF_LOCK set to wert_00 & wert_01. If I feel braking intervention with DTC/DSC off (holding the traction control button for 10 seconds), then I would assume that the e-diff is still kicking in.

Can't answer as to what you're feeling, but you can uncheck all boxes for the e-diff and see if that changes anything. Further reading suggests that turning a long press of the traction button (TIMYOYO) turns off asc and cbc so that theory is shot.
