Rear Suspension Adjustment - Extension
So I know that Ohlin's make a nice extension for their shock adjusters, any thoughts on solutions for extensions on Koni shocks (TC Kline Coilovers in my case)?
I've seen a couple of DIY's where they take the white plastic Koni knob, push out the insert and rig up some sort of extension (one example I saw was a piece of metal conduit/tubing as an extension) so I was hoping maybe there were some more refined ideas or solutions out there? Thoughts? Anything you've seen that might be the "best solution"? |

Anybody??
I did more internet sleuthing and found a 3d model someone had already made for an extended version of the koni knob (basically just a longer shaft... I said it). Sent that to a local 3d printing shop and should have a few of those just extended shaft 3d printed ones in my hand today. |

You ever get the 3D part? I bought a set of extended adjustment arms made by rogue engineering I believe. The shaft could be cut to length and the part that goes on the shock has a set screw to hold it on. They weren’t cheap though (but they are metal and. Ice quality) and I ended up just keeping one in my trunk instead of permanently mounted. I have two small jokes in my trunk liner with a small cover that I pop off if I ever need to adjust.

IDK maybe the ABS will last long enough and I won't care. By the way, It looks like rogue engineering no longer sells that extension, any luck you might be able to post a picture or two when you get a chance? |

I tried and gave up. Switched to truly external adjustable dampers.

Nah a bottom mounted knob monotube digressive. External reservoir was outside what I was willing to spend. Also switched as I wasn't happy with the level of after sales support from TCK, and ended up disagreeing with his suspension tuning philosophy after multiple iterations and failing to find balance I was happy with. I really don't think they were thought out with the N54/N55 E82 in mind, may be better for the N52 variant At the end of the day didn't want to buy another set from him.

Here you go. They are all metal so total overkill but they are well made. The middle bar is really long originally and then you cut it down to size. Also including a picture of the rubber plugs I am using to cover up the access holes.

And last question for you, what did you make the holes in the carpet with? Just like a 1/2 drill bit or did you use a punch of some sort? |

I marked the location of the hole using the measurements @fe1rx provided in his ohlins suspension thread. Then I marked the approximate hole size using the plug as a guide. It’s been 3 or 4 years, but I think I used my dremel to slowly make the hole larger and kept test fitting until I had a snug fit.
Here are the plugs I used, 1" 1 inch Flush Mount Black... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PEZS37I...p_mob_ap_share. The plugs are a little stiff, but they have never fallen out. here you go, post 27. https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...=Ohlins&page=2 Last edited by houtan; 07-01-2019 at 11:43 PM.. |

Updated the front post. I have pictures and full details but keep running out of time to dedicate to updating my build. Really been slacking there. Thanks for reminding me!
