I've seen that ad. I would rather buy a whole setup though. I found this online: http://www.bmminiparts.com/PartDetai...3-415E3EAC67D1 $1250AUD for the kit but its a bit dear once you factor in shipping and duties. Will definitely be getting s/s lines - I am a big believer in them. Thanks for the help! I would prefer the 135i brakes for aesthetics but at the end of the day I'm not too fussed - I'll buy whatever I can find.

Here's a shot on track at Winton, not much body roll for stock suspension!

Thanks mate. No where near as nice as some of the cars on your Instagram!
Thanks mate, I'm loving the car. Good luck in your search for one, they are great cars, I'm sure you'll love it.

Hey guys, it’s been a while since my last update. I’ve been flat out and haven’t had a chance to update the thread. In the past couple of months, I have driven the car heaps and it has tackled everything I’ve thrown at it flawlessly, I am really loving the ownership experience. Every friend who has driven the car has also been a big fan.
17th November 2016 After buying a 135i muffler from Sydney the week that I had bought the car, it was finally time to get the exhaust installed. I was going for the tried and true setup of a 135i muffler with a res delete. As I was struggling to find time to drive the car down to an exhaust shop, my mate kindly did it for me. He took the car to Autofast Muffler Fit in Dandenong – a shop who had done a good job on a couple of his cars. In short, they got it all wrong, here is a pic of what was done: Instead of keeping the factory twin piping and putting the custom y-pipe down near the resonator, he did it right behind the cats with a single pipe all the way back to the muffler. It sounded terrible – slightly louder than OEM with no character whatsoever. I was absolutely shattered when I got the car back. Based on the recommendation of a few friends, I took the car to Exhaust World in North Melbourne the next day to have this rectified. The guys were great (10/10 would recommend) and within 24 hours from the extreme disappointment of the original exhaust was replaced with me giggling like an idiot as I popped and crackled the whole way home. The exhaust sound is perfect. It is barely any louder than factory when you are not at WOT (maybe 10% at most, with no discernible difference when on the freeway in 6th), but it sounds much better at open throttle and pops heaps on overrun. I recommend this setup to everyone (looking at you walkie haha), it makes the car sound brilliant without any of the downsides of an aftermarket exhaust setup. The best part is that you can coax it into popping whenever you want. Here is a short video of the sound (I will probably record a proper one down the track): Not sure if he active on these forums but I want to say a big thank you to Michael who helped me throughout the exhaust debacle, without him I wouldn’t have ended up with the sound I wanted. 2nd – 4th December 2016 I took the car down to Lorne for the weekend. Had a great blast along the Great Ocean Road (still can’t believe that we encountered no traffic from Apollo Bay to Lorne) and surrounding backroads and then drove back home to Melbourne with the car full of our stuff, cruising on the freeway in comfort and silence. Such a versatile car! 10th December 2016 After about 700km of driving in Lorne the weekend before, and about 7000km since the last service by the previous owner (odo on 110,810km for my future reference), I decided it was time for a service. I used: - Castrol Edge 5W40 (a BMW LL04 oil) - Genuine BMW oil filter - Genuine BMW coolant - Demineralised water - Armorall Windscreen Washing Fluid - OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited Xenarc Unfortunately I’m not very impressed by the OSRAM bulbs. Based on the claims made by OSRAM and the money I paid for them the brightness of the bulbs is pretty underwhelming – I don’t even think they are better than the OSRAM ones which were in the car previously. I’m very excited to begin modding the car and getting some more track time in 2017. I’m desperate to find some 135i brakes, if anybody is selling or knows somebody who is, please let me know!

Great to hear you fixed the exhaust issue, I was looking at some old GoPro footage I had from Winton and realised you were driving right in front of me in the E36.. recognised the plates! haha

I remember testing driving this car a while ago on the Northern Beaches in Sydney. The owner (young guy) was moving overseas, hence the sale.

I recently bought the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited Xenarcs too. Was also a bit underwhelmed at the additional brightness, but they got a bit better as they settled in. However, one of my bulbs started flickering erratically so I had to revert back to the OEM bulb on one side. Let me know if you experience any further issues with yours

Hey guys, the car is finally 'done' so I figured it was time for a well overdue update.
I have the car setup exactly how I want it - it sounds amazing, drives beautifully and looks great. The only things I'd like to do from here are a ZHP shift knob and a new steering wheel. I would love a BMWP wheel (with the screen) if anyone is selling one. I have a car Instagram profile which I am very active on so give me a follow if you would like @onethirtyi Here is my parts list: Suspension: ST XTA Coilovers M3 Front Upper Control Arms M3 Front Lower Control Arms 20mm Superpro Rear Swaybar Wheels & Tyres: 18x8.5 ET45 APEX EC7 235/40/18 Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R (square) Brakes: DBA T3 rotors Ferodo DS2500 pads HEL S/S braided brake lines Motul RBF660 fluid Drivetrain: M-Factory 1.5 way clutch type LSD Intake/Exhaust: 135i muffler Custom mid-section with resonator delete Golf tee mod Injen cold air intake Aesthetics: OEM Aero roof spoiler Carbon fibre front splitters Stubby antenna Black kidney grilles Misc: OSRAM Xenarc Nightbreaker Unlimited Kap Industries fire extinguisher mount Varta D15 battery

Awesome car. When you went to the second exhaust shop did they put the Y pipe back in the same location as the stock resonator? I put a 135i PE muffler in my and it sounds so good already, planning cut open the resonator and wrap the perforated pipe to get some more noise.
Did you only change the rear anti roll bar? Where did you get the coilover, rear roll bar and LSD? |
