What would you do if a homeless guy scratched your car?
I was driving in downtown Seattle and the car in front of me - a Toyota Prius, I think - stopped to take a right turn. Then a homeless guy with a shopping cart didn't time it well, hit the back bumper, and just moved on like nothing happened. The lady in the car didn't seem to mind as she just drove off.
If it was your car what would you do? Since I was right behind her, I was thinking to myself, “What would I do?” The guy has no insurance and probably no ID. It will leave a mark obviously, and insurance deductible might not be worth the hassle. |

Not much you can do about a homeless person. I would just pay for the minor repair by myself.

Stay in the car and call the insurance agent. Zero good is coming out of anything else.

If they just hit the bumper, not much happened. Take it to a body shop if it needs a bit of a fix. Probably not worth an insurance claim.
Shit happens.

No different than street parking in most downtowns where you're almost guaranteed to get a booze bruise. Pay for the repair out of pocket, no need to fire up the insurance premium generator for a respray.

I remember in Socal there was a trend in which a bunch of robbers would intentionally hit your car to fake a car accident. They would wait until you get out of your car and would rob your car at gun point. So if you have any ounce of suspicion, just stay inside your car and either call the cops or your insurance company.

Seattle has become filled with a bunch of bums. It's hard to go downtown anymore. Stadium district is great, SLU Amazon district is great, the area in between sucks.

My sister unfortunately lives in Seattle. She said because of the boom in economies there, it has attracted a lot of homeless people. So much for feeling all high and mighty on your throne.

I spent a few weeks in Seattle recently, going back in a few weeks. The only homeless people I saw were in the downtown area near the city-center. There's a hell of a lot of city and the Sound outside of that small area.

I would probably try my best to convince myself to stay in the car, keep driving, and see if I can fix the paint on my own. But part of me would want to get out and throw his/her cart across the street haha
Last time I was in Seattle (stayed downtown), I was walking back from Pike's and there was a homeless dude who was on something (not sure what's big in Seattle, but they all act the same. Synthetic weed?) and he was ranting and raving and walking in the middle of the street. He had a vendetta against all of the cars...."doesn't it just f*cking piss you off that they're all just rolling around everywhere and you gotta walk?! F*ck these things and f*ck your wheels"....then he proceeds to absolutely hammer the side door of a Prius Uber with is foot. Uber driver didn't even flinch and kept driving once traffic started moving again. I would've gotten out if that happened.

Nothing you can really do. The man is pushing a shopping cart while you are driving around in your BMW. Just take a moment to appreciate what you've been blessed with and go on with your day I guess.

Years ago I scratched the bumper of a brand new minivan in a parking lot. It was a barely visible scratch. When my insurance company informed me it cost more than $4000 I was flabbergasted. They said scratches couldn’t be repaired on plastic bumpers, they just replace the whole thing. This was in the early 1990s I think. |

I’d call the cops but wouldn’t confront someone who is seriously mentally ill. Two nuts don’t make a fruitcake. My guess is that the Uber driver called the police and maybe they came and got him off the street. Uber drivers need to maintain pretty much perfect cars, so that driver probably needed to get it repaired. And probably needed a police report for his insurance. |

I actually bought a paint kit to fix the tiny dings in my paint from rocks or whatever. I haven’t had the guts to try it yet but wouldn’t attempt anything larger than a ding. |
