Ofh

Guys should the ofh be metal to metal with no gap? I have tightened all bolts to spec but there seems to be slight gap where i can see gasket material. I even alternated tightening bolts to ensure even pressure.

I'm assuming you're referring to the oil filter housing, there will be a slight gap due to the gasket being there.

You used a gasket right?

One more question.

Is it recommended or required to put some oil directly into OFH with filter before starting? Currently bone dry because of R&R diy.

Doesn't seem like a bad idea but thought I would ask.

I never do on a normal oil change but I think it's a good idea

I put 1 quart in the OFH but the only purpose is to help wet the filter material so first start up is closer to normal in terms of time to get oil to all the rotating parts. When you dump oil in the OFH you’ll see that it just drains out by gravity.
