Got it...finally!

So I have switched from a rusted-out piece of S*** to a JB 128 coupe with sport and comfort package - what a change! I picked it up Monday night exactly 9 weeks after ordering. The next day I drove 2 hrs NW to my brother-in-law's (he is a mechanic) where my winter tires were waiting. I drove through 3 inch snow drifts and lots of icy spots with my first rear-wheel drive car and summer tires - it was very scary! After putting on my 215/45-17 WS-60's on Sport Edition A7's, my drive back to Toronto was amazing. The sad thing?...my car is COVERED in sand and salt!

Thanks for everyone's help with my decision - this forum is awesome!

To do list: order Zaino products, detail (these are for sures), tint? (thinking 35% ceramic but man, the lights in the mirrors or soo dim as is and tint will make that worse??)

Not a good pic and you've seen lots of these but I thought I'd add it anyway.

Congrats!

What do you mean the lights are so dim in the mirrors? I've got 35% ceramic tint (formula one) and think it's pretty good for a black on black. I don't notice that it's too dark.

In terms of zino products, you can get them at the barbers chair (ya, a barber shop) at vaughan mills or at square one.

I had no idea getting zaino products in Canada would be as easy as going to the mall! Thanks!

So, the rearview mirrors must adjust the brightness of headlights reflected back automatically based on how much light they are receiving? If so...if I put 35% tint on, that means the rearview mirror will only recieve 65% of the light it would get in comparison without tint, and thus allow more light to reflect making the lights appear equal brightness in either tint or no tint situations?

Is that even close to making sense?

yes, I think I'm getting what you said. The rear view only dims when it senses too much light. Therefore, when you have tint on the rear, the rear view mirror will only change colour if enough light triggers it. I have not noticed that my rear view mirror changes colour at night, as the 35% doesn't seem to allow enough light in to trigger the change - that's not to say that it's too dark to see anything, just not enough light to tigger the change in the reveiw. In fact, my rear view looks very normal at night, just no blinding light.

I do notice that by side still change colour, as the sensors are outside. Even though there's a change in colour the tint doesn't make it look to dark and I can see out the sides perfectly (despite the fact that the side mirrors are a bit on the small side).

hope that helps a bit. I really don't think 35% is too dark.
