'12 128i E88 - Noob question
Hi there - well after a long hiatus, and my mid-life crisis, I am now the proud owner of a 2012 128i E88 N52 MT! (96k)
I always wanted a convertible - and most of all always wanted to learn driving MT. Anyways, I think I may have made a mistake with my oil change. I purchased Pennzoil Platinum Euro L Oil - 5w30. However, I guess I forgot the difference between LL04 vs LL01. The Oil I got is LL04 approved. Question - I only plan on driving this car during Spring-Summer-Early fall months. Am I risking any damage to my engine? or can I wait till next year and do another oil change? I expect I might drive the car now at least 5k KMs more before putting it into storage. I've read a lot of posts - but cannot get a clear answer. Please don't blast me Havn't posted in these forums for a very very long time. |

All good oils; I buy what is most readily available and always available. For me, that's Castrol, usually 0W-40. I think it's back as being LL01 approved.

Have used German Castrol 0/30 and 0/40 for a long time. No complaints. Last time I looked, no longer LL01 approved and also in my area never on sale or even available in 5 litre jugs. Switching to Euro Pennzoil (Shell) 5/40. LL01 approved and can be had on sale at a great price in 5 litre jugs.
