I've used ncsexpert a bit on older cars, basically you dump the config, back it up, make your changes and write back. It's kind of like a init file for your car.
I have never worked with anything new enough to use FA/VO values. I'm interested in switching my car from the sensors to the wheel speed config so my track wheels do not throw errors, anyone know what settings to change?

I know most of our cars don't have spares, but the old shop trick was to just toss the TPMS sensors into the spare. Then they're all at the same pressure and out of your hair.

can do it with some 4" pvc and end caps, toss the sensors in and fill it with air

For those looking for settings to change, click the link in post 6 of this thread and then post 9 of the thread that takes you too. I've reviewed it and others. I am not sure if you need to change all the values that are discussed or just the vehicle order to reference the system that calculates tire pressure off wheel speed instead of the current TPMS which is a direct reading of a transmitter in each wheel.

Getting further but no success. I found the port latency timer and set it at 1 (instead of 16) and I also set it to run NCSExpert in XP service pack 3 compatibility instead of Windows 7 (service pack 2 didn't seem to work). I can now get it to check for the VIN and FA value and even report that it read a module successfully but the result in not in the FSW_PSW.trc file like it is supposed to be. Nothing in the work directory has been changed. Not sure what that is about. Time for more searching.
In my case, it was necessary both to set compatibility to XP service pack 3 and set the latency timer setting to 1 to get this far. I got the same infrequent communication errors with either individually.

Has anybody replaced their wheel sensors? 36-23-6-798-726 I'm getting set to put new tires on my car and I wonder if that makes for a good time to do this?

Runflats are irrelevant to the discussion.
Canadian and European BMWs use RDC with runflats. If it was unsafe, it wouldn't be set up as such on hundreds of thousands of BMWs produced for these markets. You can easily change TPMS to RDC via coding and unplugging the TPMS module.

I've been doing other things the last couple weeks and haven't messed with it. I want to try different settings of the latency timer. I am running Windows 10 on the laptop and whatever version of NSCExpert bimmergeeks has on their website.
It seems like we got TPMS mandated in the U. S. after Ford Explorers had well publicized issues with Firestone tires. They would fail badly if run at low pressure and sometimes the SUV would rollover. It got lots of press. Now nobody can be trusted to check their tire pressure nor can we use the simpler system most of the world uses.

Getting Cable Working
I too am working on getting this working on my 09 135i coupe. Got the program running and cable working, but haven't figured out the full coding process yet. You got some guides up I will take a look at.
This is the one I used to get the cable working. I am finding that coding out TPMS is more difficult then the seat belt warning ha. |
