BMW M1 / 1M prototype finally spotted with signature M quad exhaust!
Any doubt that BMW is preparing to release an M version of the 1-series can now be put to rest. An M1 / 1M prototype with quad exhausts (a signature modern day M car element) has now been spotted. Until now, skeptics have pointed to the lack of quad exhaust as evidence that this is not an M1 / 1M, but some other higher performance 1-series version (i.e. 135is).
The M3 differential and control arms / links are also very evident in these photos. Make sure to follow all our M1 / 1M related news here: http://www.bimmerpost.com/m1/

Awesome! For any remaining skeptics, this should end the M1 vs. 135is debate.
The left sided cut out is larger than the right side (obviously not the final production version) which gives a nice peak at the the rear suspension. Now we need more detailed info on the engine. Last edited by HERR FSTIR; 05-10-2010 at 03:57 AM.. |

I still think dual center exhaust (like Boxster/Cayman) would fit the proportions of the car better, and really set it apart from the entire lineup. Not to mention the homage it would pay to the 2002.
It'll look great regardless, I'm sure. |
