Coolant brands

Realized I need to add more coolant to my 2012 128i

Do I need to use the BMW branded stuff or is there something my local oreilly is likely to carry that would work?

Zerex (Valvoline) G48 Blend is the right color/composition, and should be readily available.

BMW is not that expensive.
But, question is: why do you need to add it?

BMW O.E. coolant mixed 50/50 with distilled water. That's it, that's all.

I suggest checking what color coolant you currently have in the system. If it's blue, I'd recommend going with BMW OEM coolant (not that much more expensive than Zerex).

Stick with OEM coolant and you will be golden.

I bought some from BMW dealer in Germany today, was 1500L of blue concentrate, only 10 Euro. I was surprised. I never take my car to dealer, I only use them, when I need parts fast
